Monday Night Gunfire in Downtown Novato

Novato Police Department is investigating but no suspects were found after search of area.

Officers are investigating a slew of shots that were fired in downtown Novato on Monday night.

At about 9 p.m., police received several reports of gunfire in the 900 block of Diablo Avenue, near George Street, Novato police Sgt. Jennifer Dunlap said. 

"An officer patrolling nearby heard the shots too," Dunlap said.

Six casings from a small-caliber gun were found on the sidewalk, but Dunlap said that no suspects or victims were located.

The section of sidewalk was briefly cordoned off while officers conducted an area search.

"We couldn't find any damage and there was no trace of blood," she said.
