Mill Valley Man Arrested Following Pair of Novato Burglaries

Evidence of theft at one place found at location of second burglary about an hour later, police say.

A 20-year-old Mill Valley man has been booked at Marin County Jail as a suspect in two robberies that took place early Monday morning in downtown Novato, police said.

Robert Willam McFarlane faces two counts of commercial burglary and a probation violation. He was also wanted on a bench warrant for receiving or being in possession of a stolen vehicle, according to the jail booking log.

said someone smashed the front door of on Grant Avenue at 2 a.m. and took several small items before fleeing. At 3:10 a.m., the rear door of the on Redwood Boulevard — a few hundred yards from the market — was smashed and someone entered the building, police said. The suspect didn’t take anything but left items from the Rojas Market inside the McDonald’s.

Officers checking the area found McFarlane in the 800 block of Grant and linked physical evidence found on him with the two burglaries.

McFarlane, whose occupation is listed as sales, was booked at 4:30 a.m.
