Camouflaged Man Attracts Lots of Attention

The following information from July 26-28 was supplied by the Novato Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

The Headliner: 

July 26, 7:54 p.m. – Health and safety violations were reported in the vicinity of the Round Table Pizza restaurant in the 1500 block of South Novato Boulevard.  The reporting party said that a man wearing camouflage pants was drinking beer near the front door and now he is taking off his clothes.  The man was booked into Marin County Jail on suspicion of miscellaneous health and safety violations. 

July 27, 2:55 p.m. – A suspicious person was hanging out in front of a store in the 900 block of Diablo Avenue.  The reporting party described the man as white in his 60s, wearing a hat and camoflage  colored clothing.   The man had paperwork on the sidewalk and he was making customers uncomfortable.  The man was contacted and searched per the terms of his probation.  The search met with negative results and the man was moved along.

July 27, 5:59 p.m. – An unwanted person was reported at the Wyndover Apartments.  The reporting party said that a man wearing camouflage pants and a gray shirt was swearing and yelling at people.  The reporting party does not believe the man lives in the complex.  The man was contacted and moved along. 

July 26

12:08 a.m. – Suspicious circumstances were reported in the 500 block of Country Club Drive.  The reporting party heard three people climbing over the fence onto the golf course. Three girls were contacted who had TP’d a house. The TP was cleaned up and the girls were released to their parents. 

12:37 a.m. – One was arrested and booked into Marin County Jail on suspicion of driving while under the influence.  The driver was also cited for driving in a bicycle lane. 

6:37 a.m. – A burglary was reported in the 100 block of Alconbury Way.  Unknown(s) broke into a Lexus overnight.  The loss is a $100 bag of quarters.  The same thing occurred three days ago to the reporting party’s Toyota.  Money was also taken. 

7:34 a.m. – A burglary was reported in the 200 block of Marin Valley Drive.  The rear window was smashed to the reporting party’s Ford F150.  The loss is some speakers, an iPad, a wallet and some engine parts. 

8:08 a.m. – A burglary was reported on Yukon Place.  The reporting party found the doors to her silver 2005 Buick open this morning.  The loss is a purse. 

9:45 a.m. – A stolen vehicle from the 600 block of Arlington Circle was recovered in San Francisco.  

12:54 p.m. – A person came into the PD lobby and reported that he had recovered his stolen car and had found an unknown(s) property inside.  A Fast Trak was placed into evidence. 

3:13 p.m. – Shoplifting was reported at Costco on Vintage Way.  A 46-year-old woman was cited and released for stealing a weight loss system.  The staff said she has stolen from the store before but wasn’t caught.  The woman was advised by Costco not to return to the store. 

6 p.m. – A minor was cited and released for possession of alcohol in the vicinity of the CVS store in the 1700 block of Grant Avenue.  

10:06 p.m. – Suspicious circumstances were reported in the vicinity of Cutlass Drive and Redwood Boulevard.  The reporting party said that she was driving on Redwood Boulevard when a friend cut her off in a black Mercedes C250.  The friend made her stop and went to her car and was yelling at the reporting party about money.  She took $78 from the reporting party’s purse.  The reporting party does not know where her friend lives.  A case was taken for a possible robbery.

10:21 p.m. – A man was booked in the vicinity of Golden Gate Place and Redwood Boulevard on suspicion of possession of methamphetamines. 

11:19 p.m. – A person was booked into Marin County Jail in the 300 block of Enfrente Road for suspicion of driving under the influence, possession of marijuana while driving, and resisting arrest. 

July 27 

3:28 a.m. – A party complaint was reported at the America’s Best Value Inn on 7600 Redwood Boulevard.  The reporting party said that guests in a second floor room are being loud and have not complied when asked by the front desk to quiet down.  The reporting party will be telling the guests that they are no longer welcome and that they need to leave.  The reporting party is requesting officer assistance.  The occupants of two rooms were vacated per the motel owner’s request. 

6:04 a.m. – Vandalism was reported outside the Viking Lounge in the 7300 block of Redwood Boulevard.  A streetlight was down blocking the southbound sidewalk on Redwood.  

11:21 a.m. – A burglary was reported on Cowbarn Lane.  The reporting party said that unknown(s) broke into a locked storage closet and stole a chair. 

2:26 p.m. – A welfare check was requested for a woman who was yelling rude remarks and people while drinking a beer in the 300 block of Ignacio Boulevard.  The woman was contacted and moved along.  There was no merit to public intoxication.  She said that she is waiting for a friend. 

4:19 p.m. – A homeless encampment was reported in the vicinity of Hill Road and Redwood Boulevard.  Despite a posted order to leave the area a person was observed in the campsite area.  Subject(s) were gone on arrival of PD officer(s). 

8:11 p.m. – A burglary was reported in the 1600 block of Novato Boulevard.  The reporting party said that unknown(s) stole a stereo from her locked gray Jeep Cherokee within the last two days.  

8:45 p.m. – A burglary was reported on Poppy Place.  The reporting party said that her house was broken into sometime between 3:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.  The woman arrived home to find the side door to the garage open and a piece of meat on the living room floor.  The reporting party believes that her ex-boyfriend broke into her home.  Officer(s) contacted the reporting party and found no merit to vandalism or a burglary. 

9:53 p.m. – One was booked into Marin County Jail on suspicion of health and safety violations in the vicinity of Fourth Street and Industrial Way. 

9:58 p.m. – A man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence in the vicinity of the 300 block of Rowland Boulevard. 

10:08 p.m. – An unwanted person was reported in the 100 block of Cheda Lane.  The reporting party said that a drunk man is at her residence and he is unwanted and refusing to leave. She said that the man is in her bedroom and is calm.  He is aware that the PD has been called.  Both people were contacted at the residence.  The reporting party no longer wants the man to leave the residence.  Both parties were admonished. 

10:34 p.m. – A health and safety violation was reported in the 1300 block of Yukon Way.  One was arrested and booked for suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and another was arrested for a felony warrant and three other violations. 

July 28 

1:34 a.m. – One was arrested and booked into Marin County Jail for suspicion of being drunk in public in the 500 block of Alameda Del Prado. 

3:46 a.m. – One was arrested and booked into Marin County Jail for suspicion of driving under the influence in the vicinity of Gateway Court and Novato Boulevard. 

4:49 a.m. – A solo vehicle accident was reported in the 2500 block of Topaz Drive.  The driver is standing outside the vehicle.  The driver was transported to Marin County Jail where he was booked on suspicion of driving while under the influence. 

9:31 a.m. – Vandalism was reported in the 100 block of Landing Court.  Unknown(s) smashed out the window of a public storage building overnight.  The estimated damage is $1,500. 

10:01 a.m. – A petty theft was reported on Los Alondras Court.  The reporting party said that unknown(s) took miscellaneous equipment from the bed of his silver Toyota pickup overnight.  He says this is the third time this has occurred.  He has requested extra patrols in the area. 

11:52 a.m. – A person found to be drunk in public in the 5100 block of Nave Drive was transported to the Helen Vine Detox Center. 

2:35 p.m. – A driver stopped for vehicle code violations in the vicinity of Fourth Street and Romar Court was found to be driving on a suspended license.  The driver was cited and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days. 

3:54 p.m. – A grand theft was reported in the 1000 block of Eighth Street.  The reporting party was helping out an Iraq veteran with PTSD by letting him stay at his home for the past 12 days.  The man has since left the residence and now the reporting party is missing property including jewelry, which has been pawned in San Rafael.  

5:07 p.m. – A driver was stopped for vehicle code violations in the vicinity of Redwood Boulevard and Vallejo Avenue.  The driver’s vehicle was impounded for 30 days. 

6:18 p.m. – A resident reported hearing a man saying he was going to beat someone up.  The reporting party said that he heard it coming from a house in the vicinity of Albatross Drive.  Two were booked for providing false information to an officer and resisting arrest.  One of the two also had an outstanding felony warrant.   

7:53 p.m. – A hit-and-run was reported in the 300 block of Silvio Lane.  The reporting party said that the driver was in a white Ford Fusion with no plates.  The victim was detaining the driver.  One was arrested and booked into Marin County Jail on suspicion of driving under the influence. 

11:46 p.m. – A reporting party in the 1900 block of Novato Boulevard said that he could hear a woman yelling for help and yelling at someone to get up off the floor.  She was using profanities and was saying that the police were coming.  Officer(s) contacted the parties and advised them of the complaint.
