Man Suspected of Taco Truck Robbery Attempt in Napa

Novato man claimed to have a gun and tried to rob a food truck, according to Napa police.

A 53-year-old Novato man was arrested Wednesday night on suspicion of attempted robbery and public drunkenness after he reportedly tried to rob a food truck at a central Napa intersection, Napa police said.

At about 9:35 p.m., a person who worked at a taco truck parked near Lincoln Avenue and Jefferson Street made an emergency call about an intoxicated person who claimed he had a gun.

Napa police officers arrived and detained the suspect, John McLaughlin of Novato. The taco truck employee said McLaughlin had demanded money from him and said he had a gun. No weapons were brandished during the incident, and police found no gun on McLaughlin.

McLaughlin was booked at the and faces charges of robbery and public intoxication, police said.
