Woman Finds Loot in Driveway After Reported Burglary

The following information from May 21-22 was supplied by the Novato Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

The Headliner: 

May 22, 12:32 p.m. – A burglary was reported in the 600 block of Fairhaven Way.  The reporting party said that a backpack was found on the ground in front of her property.  Various items appeared to have spilled out of it including a cell phone and prescription medicines.  The reporting party also advised that her unlocked car had been rumaged through.  

May 21

3:14 a.m. – A verbal disturbance was reported at the America’s Best Value Inn in the 7600 block of Redwood Boulevard.  The hotel management said that there was a group of men and women in the parking lot that were being loud.  One man was causing the tires of his vehicle to screech.  The reporting party asked the group to move along and they have refused.  Two of the women had rented a group of men some rooms at the hotel.  Hotel management asked all to leave the premises and officer(s) advised the parties to move along. 

4:19 a.m. – Vehicle tampering was reported in the 700 block of Sutro Avenue.  The reporting party said that a person in a black Ford Crown Victoria stole a tire from his son’s car.  The vehicle was last seen heading toward Vineyard Road.  License plate information was provided.

6:37 a.m. – Vandalism was reported in the vicinity of Novato Horse & Pet Supply in the 7500 block of Redwood Boulevard.  Unknown(s) threw a rock at the windshield of a big rig.  The damage is estimated at $300. 

8:43 a.m. – A fraud was reported in the 800 block of Tamalpais Avenue.  The reporting party said that he has lost $13,000 in scams.  The victim had found that $2,000 had been taken from his bank account from an unknown person(s) in Arizona.  The investigation is ongoing. 

8:47 a.m. – A burglary was reported in the 900 block of C Street.  A cord to a scissor lift was cut Thursday evening and over the weekend an electrical transformer was taken from the building.  There was a forced entry into the abandoned building that is being prepared for demolition. 

9:17 a.m. – Extra patrols were requested in the 500 block of Alameda del Prado.  Unknown(s) entered a victim’s unlocked vehicle and damaged the dashboard.  The victim has asked for extra patrol during nighttime hours. 

11:28 a.m. – An assault and battery was reported in the vicinity of the library in the 1700 block of South Novato Boulevard.  The reporting party requested advice about a verbal altercation he had with an unknown woman yesterday.  She tried to instigate a fight and intimidated him.  The woman eventually spit on him.  The case was taken for documentation. 

1:34 p.m. – Graffiti vandalism was reported on Brookline Drive.  A woman said that unknown(s) had tagged her house on an exterior wall. 

4:25 p.m. – Domestic violence was reported in the 1000 block of Seventh Street.  A woman’s husband scraped his wife’s finger when he tried to take the phone away.  The man was arrested and booked into Marin County Jail on suspicion of domestic violence. For a story on this incident, . 

4:54 p.m. – A person in the vicinity of Arthur Street and South Novato Boulevard was booked into Marin County Jail for suspicion of driving under the influence. 

6:25 p.m. – A driver stopped for crossing the double yellow line in the vicinity of First Street and Grant Avenue was also cited for driving without a license. 

9:14 p.m. – A driver stopped for vehicle code violations in the vicinity of Chase Street and Olive Avenue also had his vehicle towed and impounded. 

9:42 p.m. – A driver stopped for vehicle code violations in the 200 block of Posada Del Sol was found to be driving without a license.  The driver was cited and the driver’s vehicle was towed and impounded. 

May 22 

7:25 a.m. – A stolen vehicle was reported in the 800 block of Grant Avenue.  Unknown(s) stole a gray 2006 Mercedes 280 within the last 20 minutes. 

7:52 a.m. – Extra patrols were requested in the vicinity of the 7000 block of Redwood Boulevard.  The requesting party said there was an increase of problems in the area.  A theft of copper from a work truck occurred last night. 

8:24 a.m. – Vandalism was reported in the 1200 block of Cabro Ridge.  The reporting party said that her house had been T.P.’d and that items had been thrown into the pool.  Unknown(s) entered the victim’s property and placed toilet paper all around the property. 

12:05 p.m. – A driver stopped for vehicle code violation(s) in the 100 block of Vintage Way was also found to be driving with a suspended or revoked license.  The driver was cited for disobeying a traffic sign and the driver’s vehicle was impounded for 30 days. 

2:17 p.m. – Domestic violence was reported on Kristy Court.  A woman said that her boyfriend has been slamming her into the ground for the last 45 minutes.  The boyfriend left in a red or gold BMW.  The reporting party was not cooperative in answering questions.  She would not give her first name.  The boyfriend was taken to Marin County Jail and booked on suspicion of domestic violence.  The judge denied an Emergency Protection Order. 

2:30 p.m. – A robbery was reported on the 1700 block of Grant Avenue.  A man threatened to “stick him” if a victim did not give his property which included a hat, skateboard and red jacket.  The man was booked into Marin County Jail for forcefully snatching the victims clothing off of his body while challenging to fight and stick him with a knife.  The assailant had also fled from officer(s) upon contact. 3:56 p.m. – A hit and run misdemeanor was reported at Novato Toyota in the 100 block of Vintage Way.  A woman struck the reporting party’s parked vehicle while it was being serviced.  The employee ran after her but she fled the area.  The reporting party has all of the reporting party information provided by the business manager. 

6:10 p.m. – A burglary was reported at a place of business in the Vintage Oaks Shopping Center on Vintage Way.  A customer tried to make a $75 purchase with a card that had the name scratched off of it.  Three other cards were attempted that were also declined.  The reporting party described the person as a white woman with dirty blond hair and a ponytail.  She was last seen wearing a pink tank top and sunglasses. 

9:19 p.m. – A burglary was reported in the 200 block of Sunset Drive.  The reporting party noticed a back patio door had a glass windowpane smashed in at a vacant residence.  The rear glass door panel was broken and entry was made into the house.  Unknown(s) also used a fire extinguisher inside the residence.  No other damage was located. 

11:41 p.m. – A man in the 1100 block of Grant Avenue was arrested and booked on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance.
