Man Sleeping Behind Theater Arrested on Outstanding Warrant

Man provided false name to responding officers.

When police answered a call about a homeless person sleeping behind a Novato movie theater on Sunday, there was a bit of a surprise during the ensuing investigation.

Novato police got the call at about 8 a.m. about the man sleeping behind the Century Rowland Plaza movie house on Rowland Way, Sgt. Jay Demski said. He provided a name to the officers that proved to be false, Demski said. Further digging revealed that he was Daniel Robert Flaming, 20, from Novato and that he had a felony warrant out for his arrest from Mendocino County.

Flaming was arrested without incident and booked at Marin County Jail at 9:40 a.m. In addition to the felony warrant, he faced a misdemeanor charge of providing a false identity to a peace officer.
