Two People Seriously Injured After Car Jumps Median

Two people were seriously injured after a car jumped the median on Enfrente Rd at Ignacio Boulevard and veered into oncoming traffic Monday afternoon Novato police said.

According to reports, a 64-year-old man was making a turn from Ignacio Boulevard when he suffered a medical emergency and drove over the center median, striking a 25-year-old man who was panhandling on the median. The car also collided with another vehicle that was traveling southbound on Enfrente Road driven by a 24-year-old woman.

It's not clear what the medical emergency was and a police spokesman did not immediately return Patch's call for information. The male driver was transported to Kaiser Terra Linda in serious condition. The pedestrian was transported to Marin General Hospital, also with serious injuries.

A passenger accompanying the male driver was not injured, nor was the driver of the second involved vehicle. Traffic on Enfrente Road was temporarily diverted around the scene.
