Man Near DMV Booked for Brandishing Knife

Selected calls from the log books of Novato PD, March 17-19

March 17 

12:06 p.m. – A subject was cited for habitation in a vehicle in the 1700 block of Ignacio Boulevard. 

2:16 a.m. – A subject was arrested and booked for public drunkenness in the 1000 block of First Street.

9:19 a.m. – A welfare check on a student at Novato High School was requested after a teacher read a comment by the student on Facebook.  The student wrote “I want to die.”  The student was taken to Kaiser Terra Linda for evaluation. 

1:47 p.m. – A welfare check was requested by a concerned relative that his nephew was not answering his phone in the 1100 block of Elm Drive.  The subject was found deceased in his apartment.

1:59 p.m. – A citizens arrest was made on the 1700 block of Center Road after a resident witnessed her neighbor pick up dog poop and throw it in her yard.  The subject faces miscellaneous code violations for illegal dumping.  Advice was provided. 

3:21 p.m. – A burglary was reported on Margarita Terrace.  Unknown subject(s) broke into locked storage areas of the condo complex.  Approximately six units were broken into all belonging to separate residents.  

9:49 p.m. – A burglary was reported on Main Gate Road.  Unknown subject(s) broke a vehicle window and took the victims purse. 

11:59 p.m. – A subject on the 800 block of Grant Avenue was transported to a detox center without incident. 

March 18 

7:07 a.m. – A taxi driver dropping off a guest at the Days Inn on Redwood Boulevard got into a confrontation with the subject over a payment.  The subject would not answer his door or the room phone.  The responding officer assisted with obtaining the signing of a payment slip. 

12:59 p.m. – A burglary was reported in the 900 block of Atherton Avenue.  Unknown subject(s) entered the victim’s vehicle at park-and-ride lot between the hours of 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. and took credit cards from a wallet in the victim’s purse.  The victim now has credit card frauds. 

2:55 p.m. – An assault and battery was reported at San Jose Middle School.  Two juveniles were reportedly involved in a fight and were escorted to the vice principal’s office.  Students were admonished about fighting.  The school will handle the incident. 

3:24 p.m. – A male subject in front of the Department of Motor Vehicles was reported to be waving a knife at people.  The subject was booked for brandishing a weapon. 

4:48 p.m. – An assault and battery was reported in the 1300 block of Kaehler Street.  The reporting party’s mother was drunk and fighting with a friend. 

9:55 p.m. – A burglary was reported in the 1000 block of Green Oak Drive.  The reporting party’s vehicle was broken into and her iPod was stolen.

10:35 p.m. – A suspicious subject was reported at the 7-Eleven store on Diablo Avenue.  A man who had been asking people for money outside of the business was reported to become hostile when told “no.”  The subject was contacted and advised of complaint and abated from the store. 

March 19 

2:38 a.m. – An aggravated assault was reported in the 100 block of Los Robles Road.  A verbal argument turned physical when a woman was pushed by her boyfriend.  The subject was arrested and booked for aggravated assault. 

9:39 a.m. – A grand theft was reported on Irene Drive.  A victim reported that two of his vehicles were broken into. 

2:13 p.m. – A hit and run was reported in the vicinity of Rowland Boulevard and Vintage Way.  The reporting party was rear ended by a white newer model sedan.  The suspect is a white male with a goatee.  The subject was laughing and last seen getting onto north bound Highway 101.   Victim submitted plate information. 

4:58 p.m. – Five juveniles attempted to defraud and innkeeper at the IHOP at Vintage Oaks shopping center.  Three males and two females walked out of the restaurant without paying a $54 bill.  The juveniles took off in a black Mercedes. The juveniles and parents were contacted.  The juveniles returned to pay the bill. 

6:09 p.m. – A restraining order violation was reported in the 1100 block of First Street.  A subject was booked for public intoxication, violation of a court order, and a probation violation. 

8:51 p.m. – A 19-year-old male with Down syndrome went missing in the parking lot of Whole Foods.  Subject was located and returned to his parents. 

10:35 p.m. – A line was reported hanging down in the roadway in the vicinity of Merritt Drive and Sunset Parkway.  The reporting party was not sure if it was a power line.  The line was cleared from the road and Verizon was notified.
