Man Chucks Rocks at Police Station, Shattering Glass

Officers detain 19-year-old Novato man a block away; felony vandalism charge awaits.

A man was arrested Friday afternoon minutes after he hurled rocks at the ’s front entry way on Machin Avenue, police said.

Edricx Scutt, 19, faces felony vandalism charges after shattering the front doors and windows at the station at about 11:23 a.m., Lt. Keith Heiden said. He fled on foot in a westerly direction, Heiden said.

He was caught by officers at the bus station in the 7300 block of Redwood Boulevard minutes later and then taken into custody and booked into Marin County Jail.

Scutt told officers he was upset about a prior contact with police Friday. He had been reported as a suspicious person walking back and forth in front of a business on South Novato Boulevard and was advised to move along.

Nobody was in the lobby at the time of the incident, Heiden said. The police department's reception area is closed on Fridays.

Damage was estimated at $1,400.
