Altercation took place Thursday night in apartment complex parking lot on Marion Drive. Suspect arrested a few hours later.

A Novato man faces two felony assault charges stemming from an altercation Thursday night in which he is accused of strangling a woman and then driving a SUV over her foot, police said.

Police responded to an 8:40 p.m. report of a man and woman arguing in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 1700 block of Marion Avenue, Novato police Sgt. Nick Frey. The woman said she was repeatedly hit in the head by the man and then was strangled to the point of losing consciousness in the parking lot, according to the police report.

The woman regained consciousness as the man drove his dark-colored Chevy Trailblazer toward her and ran over one of her feet, Frey said.
