Man, 19, Arrested on Suspicion of Sex with Girl Under 14

A 19-year-old Novato man was arrested on three felony counts Sunday after he was found to be having sexual intercourse with a girl under 14, said.

Jorge Garcia, who listed his occupation as laborer, was arrested at 8 p.m. at a home on Westwood Drive in the Olive neighborhood, according to Novato police Sgt. Jim Tross. Garcia faces charges of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14 and unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor, according to the Marin County Jail booking log. He is also under a felony hold as his immigration status is checked.

Tross said the girl’s parents called police to report the relationship and that the daughter told her parents and the police that it was consensual.
