Loss of Computer Privileges Prompts Teen to Start Swinging

The following information from Sept. 3-4 was supplied by the Novato Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

The Headliner:

10:59 p.m., Sept. 3 — A 16-year-old girl is being belligerent and just punched the reporting party in the face about 10 times with a closed fist. The girl was upset that her computer was being taken away. The reporting party says the girl was drinking and doing drugs earlier in the day. The girl was booked at juvenile hall and faces several assault charges.

12:22 a.m. — A resident of Poplar Drive came back home to find that a roommate had a party with friends the previous night and $1,400 in cash was missing and the reporting party's room had been ransacked.

8:56 a.m. — A woman in the 1600 block of Novato Boulevard said she was drugged the previous night and taken to a hospital by friends for a medical check. Case taken for suspicious circumstances.

10:19 a.m. — A neighbor reported hearing screams in the 1400 block of Vallejo Avenue. A girl and her mother were arguing about going to the dentist.

12:41 p.m. — A Jack in the Box employee on Redwood Boulevard said her car window was smashed and her purse was stolen.

3:05 p.m. — A woman said her home was broken into and jewelry was taken in the 2200 block of Center Road.

3:14 p.m. — An injury collision was reported at Novato Boulevard at Simmons Lane. for a full report on this incident.

6:55 p.m. — A neighbor reported hearing a girl scream "Let me go" and "I can't breathe" from a residence in the 1000 block of First Street. The reporting party believes the mother of the teenage daughter uses drugs. Officers forced entry and took documentation.

7:22 p.m. — Someone reported hearing a woman yelling "Stop, you're hurting me" from a home in the 1500 block of Hill Road. A case was taken.

7:36 p.m. — A child fell over a fence and suffered facial abrasions on Kelly Court.

8:13 p.m. — A woman on Ferris Drive said her soon-to-be-ex-husband is making threats by text, social media and phone.

Sept. 4

1:19 a.m. — A nephew living with his aunt on Merritt Drive has not been seen in three days. Contact was made on Facebook and the nephew said he was going to move back with his parents in San Rafael. At 10:29 a.m., the boy's mother reported that he showed up at the San Rafael home.

4:45 a.m. — Someone on Turner Drive said unknown subjects threw eggs at his vehicle and the paint is damaged.

12:30 p.m. — A resident of Salvatore Drive said he caught a person who appeared homeless stealing his mail and mail from his neighbors. The resident confiscated the mail and the suspect disappeared into a creek area.

1:13 p.m. — A fight was reported in the boys locker room at San Marin High School. Both sets of parents were advised of the incident.

1:37 p.m. — A laptop, GPS device and hard drive were reported missing from a residence on Sheila Court.

1:52 p.m. — A motel employee in the 8100 block of North Redwood Boulevard said a man checked out and left behind a loaded handgun and a backpack. for a full report on this incident.

3:12 p.m. — A woman on Plaza Amapola said her son said, "I don't care if I go to jail, I'm going to get my gun." She said her son threatened murder. The son was arrested.

5:21 p.m. — A woman on Newport Landing Drive asked for advice after receiving a threatening e-mail from her estranged husband. The woman showed the responding officer a printout of the e-mail, and it included a warning from the husband for her to stay away from his workplace and not threaten him with a weapon.

5:48 p.m. — A juvenile received a death threat via text. All parents of the juveniles involved were contacted.

5:59 p.m. — Three large bags containing marijuana leaf shavings were found in a stairway in the 900 block of Reichert Avenue.

6:05 p.m. — A woman said her boyfriend ran away from a house on Juanita Court and threatened to run out into traffic so someone would run him over. The subject was taken to a hospital psychiatric ward.

6:28 p.m. — A dispute between neighbors was reported in the 700 block of De Long Avenue. One is suspected of throwing one of his tools at another. A case was taken for stolen items and advice was given.

6:30 p.m. — A handgun wrapped in plastic was placed into a dropbox at the post office on South Novato Boulevard. An officer took the gun as evidence and an investigation is ongoing.

6:36 p.m. — A woman in the 1000 block of First Street said her cousin is screaming and broke a window. Blood was found but the subject was gone on officer arrival.

10:06 p.m. — A woman in the 300 block of Rowland Boulevard said a maintenance man from her complex entered her apartment without notice and accessed her computer. There are ongoing civil issues between the woman and complex management. Advice was given.
