Local Bars Ace Police Surveillance Test
No violations seen during three-week operation by PD and state Alcohol Beverage Control.
Drinking establishments in Novato received an A-plus grade during a recent undercover operation to monitor alcohol sales to minors and other infractions.
Plainclothes officers from the and an investigator from the state’s Department of Alcohol Beverage Control conducted two bar surveillance operations the first three weeks of December and focused on seven bars, Sgt. Jennifer Welch said. As the team kept close tabs on sale of alcohol to minors, overserving of alcohol and ABC administrative guidelines, no violations were found. Police did not release the names of the bars.
Also, Novato police conducted a training session for bartenders and servers to watch out for symptoms of over-intoxication, recognizing false identification cards and general guidelines for the monitoring of alcohol service. Seven bars sent 13 employees through the training, which is offered several times a year by the police department.
