Paintball Players in Fatigues Stir Up Residents

The following information from Jan. 18-22 was supplied by the Novato Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

The Headliner: 

Jan. 22, 1:42 p.m. – Suspicious persons were reported on Pacheco Creek Drive.  A group people dressed in camouflage were seen with guns.  They had told the reporting party’s neighbor that they had paintball guns.  The reporting party was extremely agitated over the group being in the area.  The group was gone on arrival and could not be located. 

Jan. 22, 3:17 p.m. – Suspicious persons were reported in the vicinity of Forrest Road and Ridge Road.  A white man with red hair dressed in a camouflage outfit was seen carrying a gun over his shoulder.  The man was believed to be in his 20s.  Officer(s) found kids playing with air soft guns.  They were advised to move away from residential areas and to locate an area or facility that will allow them to take part in such activities.

Jan. 18 

7:01 a.m. – A car was burglarized overnight in the 1200 block of Valley Oak Court.  Unknown(s) broke in through the driver’s side door of a white Honda Accord and stole a stereo.

10:44 a.m. – Graffiti vandalism was reported on Aires Lane.  Unknown(s) tagged a retaining wall.  Damage was estimated at $50. 

10:46 a.m. – A health and safety violation was reported at San Marin High School.  A student was detained in the school office for possessing marijuana and a scale.  The student was cited and released.  

11:24 a.m. – A fraud was reported at a business in the 300 block of Bel Marin Keys Boulevard.  An ATM card was compromised and the affiliated bank is requiring a report. 

1:21 p.m. – A weapons violation was reported at Novato High School.  A locking blade knife was located on a student.  The student was cited and released. 

3:10 p.m. – Shoplifting was reported at Lucky’s market on Grant Avenue.  A 20-year-old man was in custody on suspicion of stealing rubbing alcohol.  Store personnel advised him that they were cutting him a break today and letting him go.

3:59 p.m. – Graffiti vandalism was reported at a church in the 6900 block of Redwood Boulevard.  A police report was declined as the tagging had been removed prior to police arrival.  Photos of the damage were unclear but appeared not to be gang-related.  Extra patrols were requested. 

4:56 p.m. – Shoplifting was reported at Lucky’s market on Grant Avenue.  A 16-year-old girl was in custody on suspicion of stealing liquor and makeup.  She was cited for shoplifting and possession of alcohol by a minor and was released to an adult sister. 

Jan. 19 

8:30 a.m. – A citizen complained about an elderly couple feeding seagulls in the vicinity of Grant Avenue and Railroad Avenue.  The citizen was concerned about them creating a traffic hazard.  The reporting party was contacted who said she had advised the Marin Humane Society as well, and that they would be handling the issue. 

11:18 a.m. – Domestic violence was reported in the 900 block of Seventh Street.  A white man wearing a red shirt was seen grabbing a white woman with red hair wearing a blue jean jacket.  The man had pushed her up against a pole and held her there. 

2:14 p.m. – A vehicle code violation was reported in the 5800 block of Nave Drive.  A silver Mercedes was parked on top of a curb.  The driver was described as a white man in his 30s.  He had been seen driving erratically.  He was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. 

4:16 p.m. – A fraud was reported in the 400 block of Atherton Avenue.  Unauthorized charges were made against a work-related credit card.  The reporting party has a printout of charges. 

6:21 p.m. – A burglary was reported on Andreas Court.  The victim was away while a neighbor’s son was petsitting at the home.   Only the bedroom seems to have been ransacked.  The loss appears to be jewelry.  

8:36 p.m. – A woman being treated for an unrelated medical issue at Novato Community Hospital said she was a victim of domestic violence and that she is scared that her husband is going to kill her.  An arrest warrant was issued for a domestic violence incident in San Rafael.  San Rafael PD responded and arrested the man. 

9:04 p.m. – A person was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence in the 7400 block of Redwood Boulevard.  The person was also cited for driving with a suspended license and was booked into Marin County Jail. 

Jan. 20 

12:04 p.m. – A fraud was reported at the Costco store on Vintage Way.  A counterfeit $100 bill was received yesterday.  The reporting party in the manager’s office has suspect information. 

6:34 p.m. – A driver stopped for a vehicle code violation on the 1200 block of Denlyn Street resulted in multiple citations.  The driver was cited for having false license tabs, a suspended drivers license, no insurance and no taillights.  The driver was released and the vehicle was impounded. 

11:37 p.m. – An unwanted person was reported in the 400 block of South Palm Drive.  A white woman was on the third floor banging on doors.  She was last seen in only her underwear and a T-shirt with a bandana on her wrist.  The woman was unknown to the reporting party.  The floors were checked and no one matching the description was seen. 

Jan. 21 

12:12 a.m. – A stolen vehicle was reported in the 300 block of Rowland Boulevard.  The owner of a ’96 Nissan Altima had accidentally locked the keys in the car but unknown(s) had stolen it from the parking lot.  The vehicle was last seen at 8 p.m. 

4:51 a.m. – A shots-fired report was taken in the vicinity of San Andreas Drive and San Marin Drive.  The reporting party said she heard a gunshot and saw a vehicle driving slowly in the area. 

12:12 p.m. – Vandalism was reported in the 1700 block of Novato Boulevard.  The reporting party said his Nissan Frontier was possibly broken into overnight.  The rear window was broken and there were pieces of metal found in the tailgate that he believes may be from a BB-gun. 

3:22 p.m. – Vandalism was reported on Little Creek Lane.  The reporting party said a neighbor in his 40s wearing a dark T-shirt and blue jeans came to the door and yelled at the reporting party and a 10-year-old daughter playing video games. The man pulled a safety gate off its hinges when he came onto the property.  Advice was given about temporary restraining orders. 

7:54 p.m. – An unwanted person was reported in the 400 block of South Palm Drive.  A woman who had been drinking was in the lobby.  She was asked by police to leave this morning.  The woman was provided with a courtesy transport to a local hotel. 

9:32 p.m. – An altercation between two men and a woman was reported in the vicinity of Rite Aid on Diablo Avenue.  The woman was described as Hispanic, in her 30s and wearing a black leather jacket.  The two men were described as white, in their 30s and at least one was wearing black pants and a leather jacket.  One of the men was seen pushing the woman up against a window.  One was arrested on suspicion of public drunkenness and a violation of probation.  The others could not be located. 

11:21 p.m. – A welfare check was requested for a woman in the 1200 block of Hamilton Parkway.  The woman was reported to have come up and grabbed the reporting party and said she was really drunk.  She then went into the bushes.  She was described by the reporting party as a white woman with long blonde hair, wearing a green sweatshirt and blue jeans with Uggs. 

11:49 p.m. – A driver was cited and released to parents on suspicion of driving under the influence in the vicinity of Davidson Street and De Long Avenue. 

Jan. 22 

1:03 a.m. – A man was arrested and booked for public intoxication and resisting arrest at the Viking Lounge on Redwood Boulevard. 

2:14 a.m. – A missing girl was reported in the 600 block of Olive Avenue.  The girl snuck out of the reporting party’s house and hasn’t returned home.  While police took the report, the juvenile showed up and said she had fell asleep outside while looking at the starts.  It was noted that it was overcast at the time she went missing. 

3:19 a.m. – A stolen vehicle was recovered in the 1600 block of Grant Avenue.  A 1997 Ford F250 was found, however the battery, tools, trailer and Bobcat were not recovered.  The Rohnert Park Department of Public Services was notified and the vehicle was towed from the scene. 

6:59 a.m. – Vandalism was reported at the Creekside Bakery on Grant Avenue.  The front window was broken and furniture outside had been overturned.  Damage was approximately $200. 

6:42 p.m. – An assault and battery was reported at Novato Community Hospital.  A man who said he had been shoved by a friend while at Brown’s Binyerd on First Street sustained a severely dislocated ankle.  The man said he was equally to blame for his injury and refused to press charges on anyone. 

11:36 p.m. – An assault and battery was reported in the 1200 block of Lynwood Drive.  The reporting party said that her daughter is being unruly and she wants her out of the house.  The girl had come in late after curfew and had upset the family.  The daughter had assaulted her mother during the argument.
