Is Your Teen Safe Behind the Wheel?

Marin CHP is holding a free class for teens and their parents to teach them about making smart decisions while driving

Did you know that car accidents are the leading cause of death for people ages 15 to 20?

To help reduce teen fatalities, the Marin County California Highway Patrol is organizing a teen driver course on Wednesday, August 28.

The class is aimed at teens and parents and will cover what provisional licensing means and how to make smart decisions on the road—from not texting or talking on the phone to following to closely.

“The statistics for teen driver accidents are just unbelievable,” said CHP spokesman Andrew Barclay. “We want to give teens and parents the tools to be safe on the road…because at the end of the day we are the ones that have to deal with them and their families if they have an accident.”

The class is free. Parents and new drivers interested in attending should RSVP with the Marin CHP office by Tuesday, August 27th, at (415) 924-1100. Space is limited to the first 30 students and parents.

The class starts at 7pm on Wednesday, August 28 and will be held at the CHP Marin Area Office at 53 San Clemente Dr, Corte Madera.
