Husband, Wife Arrested After Apartment Altercation

As man arrested on domestic violence charges, woman linked to burglary at Safeway.

A husband and wife were arrested Thursday at a downtown apartment complex after someone saw the man holding the woman down on the ground, Novato police said.

Officers were summoned to the Wyndover Apartments in the 800 block of Diablo Avenue after a witness said the man was pinning down the woman in the doorway of their apartment, Sgt. Eric Riddell said Friday.

Davey Cameron, 39, was arrested at 12:34 p.m. on suspicion of false imprisonment and battery on a spouse, according to the Marin County Jail booking log.

His wife, Sarah Elgort, 31, was linked to a burglary investigation from the Safeway store at the Novato Fair Shopping Center, Riddell said. Surveillance video confirmed that Elgort had used a stolen credit card, so she was arrested along with her husband, he said. Elgort faces felony charges of burglary and receiving stolen property.

Ilya Perry November 24, 2012 at 02:04 AM
Argh not again...... His kids can read did you have to state his name???
Ilya Perry November 24, 2012 at 02:11 AM
You say this because you probably know them! But yesterday I believe Meth was not the cause. They have been having issues since the beginning. The bad part is his kids have to live with knowing more then they should......

This is truly sad. Two addicts who OBVIOUSLY need help, not lockup. I agree with a previous statement, was his name necessary? His children are old enough to read. Don't his children have the right to not hear about their father in the paper? To the people (person) who included their comment and probably don't know Davey or Sarah, why don't you keep your comments to yourself. His children can read, and really, your "got meth" comment was not needed. You're a jerk. Just saying.

Thank You Lexie this means a lot! Abby told me what happened before anybody had a chance to tell me. My kids shouldn't have to deal with this they are young but they insure more then a normal adult deals with in a life time. It's sad and it hurts to see my kids having one man love them as their own and the man who is supposed to be their father mess up so much. Yes I agree they need help and it's about time the system got them I hope they see that they both need help! His kids deserve it to see him be a good person for a change

Sarah and Davey definately need to be locked up and evicted immediately. Their children do not need to witness violence and drug use, nor do they need to grow up with these self-centered entitled users. The best thing for these kids to see is what happens when you stea,l cheat and commit violent acts- you go to jail !! Very hard lesson at early age but better than replicating parents behavior.

Brent, usually you include a photo of the place of the crime or car accident. The battery was at Wyndover. I suspect Toni has a general photo of that place that she can email you. Our ex-police chief used to say crime is has not risen in the last 20 years in Novato. I wonder if that is still true.
Bernice Najafi November 24, 2012 at 05:15 PM
When I read the article byline I knew before I clicked on it, the incident would be at The Wyndover Apartments. Things are still bad there.... obviously. How tragic Isn't that an elderly home the city allowed to be built right across the street?
Bob Ratto November 24, 2012 at 05:19 PM
Roger Please remember our ex-chief did cite an increase in "Caucasian motorcycle gangs" at one point!
Bob November 24, 2012 at 05:49 PM
Roger, I wonder if the 20 year time period was picked because it was an exceptionally high crime period that makes the crime rate today lower? There is usually a way to use statistics to support ones own point of view.
Bob November 24, 2012 at 06:05 PM
For those that don't remember or didn't know, Wyndover is mostly subsidized housing, subsidized by the tax paying citizens. It is for good citizens that need assistance and not for criminals that take public assistance while conducting criminal activity. To accept this kind of assistance I thought that if you were convicted of a crime you were not eligible for this type of housing or if you were guilty of a crime while living there you were evicted. Does anyone know if this is true? I don't want to help pay the rent of a criminal.

For your info that is my ex husband and they are homeless and they were visiting his parents. They don't live there. It's sad because she is just as bad I told them this was bound to happen because instead of breaking up they stayed together. Besides jail they need a mental eval because they are both mentally ill but they have no medical so they can't take their meds. It's just sad to see I protect my kids the best I can. The kids I have full time but they see their father once in a while. And he disappoints them. It's just too sad. At least my kids have a step father who is there for them no matter what happens in their lives. I just hope Davey and Sarah get the help they need. They are both too old to be doing this crap.
Jenny November 24, 2012 at 09:05 PM
Word is, his father who he was staying with is also charged with a crime.
Ilya Perry November 24, 2012 at 09:18 PM
As far as I know they have the same name. When they booked Davey it showed up as Sr. Not Jr. It happens all the time.
Sean Perry November 24, 2012 at 09:27 PM
Oh so now we got someone who thinks they know it all. All in all they need help, and need to start by being sober then, they should not be together, he thinks he can tell her what to do and she does it. She is not to smart. He is the reason she's in trouble. He is a control freak he used to do that to his ex which got smart enough to leave. She found a man that will be there for her kids till eternity. They deserve a clean and sober dad that they can hang out with. But instead he sleeps when they are around. He's pushing them away. I will be strong for them and give them what they need a father that's there for them, I know that I'm just a step parent but I love them like my own. I LOVE THEM.

This is awful. What is even worse: Judy Arnold as a city council member and the rest of the Novato City Council approved Wyndover Apartments for deed restricted low income housing. Everytime I see a cop car at Wyndover it makes me furious with Arnold. Everytime I drive by Millworks I am livid with Arnold. The career politicians are ruining Novato.

Any reports on what was happening at the Rowland theatre last Tuesday afternoon? Man and woman raising holy hell (with their kids in tow) to the point the theatre called the police. Then the woman threatened the officers! Not sure why they weren't arrested or what happened to the kids but they put on a very nasty floor show for the lobby FULL of kids on Thanksgiving break. Hope their kids are alright.

They have released the wife! Her mom being a lawyer she probably gets a slap on the hand.
