Husband, Wife Arrested After Apartment Altercation

As man arrested on domestic violence charges, woman linked to burglary at Safeway.

A husband and wife were arrested Thursday at a downtown apartment complex after someone saw the man holding the woman down on the ground, Novato police said.

Officers were summoned to the Wyndover Apartments in the 800 block of Diablo Avenue after a witness said the man was pinning down the woman in the doorway of their apartment, Sgt. Eric Riddell said Friday.

Davey Cameron, 39, was arrested at 12:34 p.m. on suspicion of false imprisonment and battery on a spouse, according to the Marin County Jail booking log.

His wife, Sarah Elgort, 31, was linked to a burglary investigation from the Safeway store at the Novato Fair Shopping Center, Riddell said. Surveillance video confirmed that Elgort had used a stolen credit card, so she was arrested along with her husband, he said. Elgort faces felony charges of burglary and receiving stolen property.
