'Hello Kitty' Mints Send Couple to Hospital

Selected calls from the Novato PD log books, Feb. 23-27

Feb. 23 

10:15 a.m. – Graffiti vandalism was reported in the vicinity of Marion Avenue and Paradise Court.  A wall was tagged with yellow paint. 

12:33 p.m. – A man was reported to be sitting in his car and drinking beer in the 1100 block of Third Street.  The subject was cited for having an open container.

1:34 p.m. – Graffiti vandalism was reported in the vicinity of Alameda del Prado and Posada del Sol.  Gang related tagging was found on a wall. 

2:02 p.m. – Graffiti vandalism was reported in the 300 block of Capetown Court.  Twelve locations were found tagged at the complex.  Reporting party took pictures of the vandalism.

3:04 p.m. – A reporting party stated that two subjects were having sex in the bathroom of the library on Novato Boulevard.  One subject was cooperating with security in the office while a male subject had left. A case was taken for statutory rape. 

6:28 p.m. – A white male approximately 19 years of age was arrested near McDonald's restaurant on the 7300 block of Redwood Boulevard.  The subject faces charges of resisting arrest, battery on a police officer, and public drunkenness. 

8:09 p.m. – A warrant arrest was made on the 1300 block of Leafwood Drive.  The subject was booked into Marin County Juvenile Hall. 

Feb. 24 

12:12 a.m. – A subject was arrested and booked for driving under the influence in the 90 block of Diablo Avenue. 

10 a.m. – A restrained party was observed watching the protected party at North Bay Children’s Center on C Street in violation of a served restraining order.  The case was documented for violation of a temporary restraining order. 

4:16 p.m. – A restrained party was observed parked in front of a woman’s home on San Miguel Way.  A temporary restraining order violation was documented. 

7:39 p.m. – A group of black boys were reported in McDonald's throwing water on the ground and restaurant employees, including the manager.  The boys were asked to leave the business but they refused.  Party was gone on arrival. 

Feb. 25 

12:18 a.m. – A subject was arrested for driving under the influence in the 7300 block of Redwood Boulevard.  

12:22 a.m. – A subject was arrested for public drunkenness and a parole violation in the 200 block of Alameda del Prado.  

3:29 a.m. – A vehicle collision with a tree was reported in the 400 block of San Marin Drive.  Both airbags were deployed but driver was initially unable to be located.  Subject was later transported and booked into Marin County Jail. 

8:58 a.m. – A vehicle was reported burglarized over night in the 1400 block of Buchanan Street.  Unknown suspect(s) shattered a window on the driver’s side to gain access.  An Alpine stereo and an iPod were taken from the victim’s vehicle. 

10:04 a.m. – A vehicle was reported burglarized over night in the parking lot of the Rowland Cinema on Rowland Way.  A DVD system and a hand held video game system were taken from the vehicle.  There were no signs of forced entry though the vehicle was reported to be locked. 

10:24 a.m. – A purse and a cell phone were reported stolen over night from an unlocked vehicle on Ike Court.  The victim called his cell phone and a man named Chris answered the phone. 

10:25 a.m. – A warrant arrest was made on the 300 block of Rowland Boulevard after a subject was found sleeping in his vehicle.  A warrants check revealed an outstanding warrant out of Utah.  Subject was booked into Marin County Jail. 

11:30 a.m. – A vehicle was burglarized over night in the 500 block of Arlington Court.  Unknown suspect(s) smashed the left rear window of the victim’s vehicle and stole a gym bag containing swim gear.  Estimated loss is $100. 

3:28 p.m. – A vehicle was burglarized over night on Plumas Circle.  The loss is undetermined at this time. 

4:03 p.m. – Graffiti vandalism was reported in the 500 block of Bolling Circle.  

10:20 p.m. – Two subjects stated they ingested unknown substances they found in their room at the Days Inn.  The reporting party stated he took some mints with “Hello Kitty” on them and they are now throwing up and hallucinating.  A male and female were transported to Kaiser hospital for medical treatment. 

10:53 p.m. – A gunshot was reported heard in the 800 block of Diablo Avenue.  The woman reporting it believed it happened close by in her apartment complex.  The area was checked and the source was unable to be located. 

Feb. 26 

2:14 a.m. – A woman in the 1500 block of South Novato Boulevard reported that her boyfriend, a 36-year-old man, beat her up.  She stated he gave her a black eye and left in a green vehicle to his residence in San Marin. A subject was booked for aggravated assault.  The woman declined to have an emergency protection order issued. 

11:44 a.m. – An unwanted subject was reported at Body Kinetics on Center Road.  A woman stated that the subject had been drinking and that he had threatened her.  She believed the man was living out of his vehicle. The area was checked for the vehicle with negative results. 

6:57 p.m. – A robbery was reported at Vilma's Jewelry on Alameda del Prado. Two male subjects.  No further information at this time.  Investigation is continuing. 

Feb. 27 

12:09 a.m. – A man was arrested and booked into Marin County Jail for driving under the influence in the vicinity of South Novato Boulevard and Redwood Boulevard. 

2:33 a.m. – A girl reported to have been drinking and not wearing any shoes was seen crying and trying to get into a car on Madrid Court.  The girl was booked for public intoxication. 

8:28 a.m. – A vehicle was broken into over night on Partridge Drive.  Loss is unknown at this time. 

7:06 p.m. – A vehicle was broken into on the 400 block of San Andreas Drive.  The victim was on a hike when unknown subject(s) smashed the front passenger side window.  Loss is unknown at this time. 

8:22 p.m. – A subject was arrested and booked for domestic violence on San Pablo Court. 

9:49 p.m. – A City of Novato pickup truck was vandalized in the 900 block of Seventh Avenue.  The reporting party states it appears that someone has thrown paint stripper on the vehicle.  

11:14 p.m. – A warrant arrest was made in the 800 block of Diablo Avenue.
