Grant-funded Traffic Program Cites 44 for Speeding

From Friday night to Saturday morning the Novato PD was kept busy.

Using grant funds from the California Office of Traffic Safety, the Novato Police Department conducted a speed enforcement operation and a DUI enforcement operation at the outset of last weekend, from evening Friday, Feb. 24 to early Staurday morning. The final total was 44 speeding citations in just 5 hours.

The operations specifically targeted red light violations and DUI driving in an effort to reduce traffic collisions and increase traffic safety within the community.

Several other police actions as a result of the DUI enforcement operation included 19 traffic stops for other violations, 8 field sobriety tests – with 2 of them arrested for DUI charges – and 2 citations for driving with a suspended license.
