Four vehicles tangled on southbound Highway 101 north of Novato during Tuesday's morning commute, the California Highway Patrol said. There were no serious injuries.
The chain-reaction crash took place a few hours after a northbound truck hit a power pole on 101, .
The southbound crash was reported at 6 a.m. about 200 feet north of the fatal crash site in the northbound lanes, CHP Officer Eric Hohmeister said. As traffic slowed to 15-20 mph on the southbound side due to the commotion across the highway, four vehicles collided in chain-reaction style in the southbound fast lane, Hohmeister said.
A woman was transported to Novato Community Hospital by paramedics with complaints of chest pain. There was one other minor injury reported.
Traffic remained heavy in the area through the morning commute, Hohmeister said.
