Former Student Enters Campus, Threatens to Stab High Schooler

The following information from April 15-17 was supplied by the Novato Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

The Headliner: 

April 17, 1:11 p.m. – A former student reportedly came onto the San Marin High School campus and threatened to stab a student.  No weapon was seen.  The reporting party described the man as Hispanic, wearing a white baseball cap and a black vest with blue and white shoes.  Officer(s) interviewed the student and found that there was no apparent merit to the threats.  The student said that the man was an ex-friend and that the man had only looked at him in a threatening manner and pounded on his heart with his right hand and mouthed “I’m gonna stab you.”  The student said he was not fearful of the perceived threat. 

April 15

12:57 a.m. – Suspicious circumstances were reported in the 200 block of Las Lomas.  A resident saw five kids looking in vehicles in the neighborhood.  The kids were described as four black boys and one white boy.  All were under 18 years of age.  Five boys were contacted who all had suspected stolen property on them.  The property was taken for observation and all of the boys were identified and released to their parents. .

7:42 a.m. – A petty theft was reported in the 200 block of Case Grande Real.  A resident found his driver’s side door open on his vehicle and saw that unknown(s) had rummaged through it.

9:02 a.m. – A petty theft was reported in the 200 block of Case Grande Real.  A resident found a door open to a vehicle. 

11:35 a.m. – A petty theft was reported on Holstrom Circle.  Unknown(s) had gone through the reporting party’s unlocked vehicle overnight.  

12:10 p.m. – A petty theft was reported on Jan Way.  Unknown(s) rummaged through two of the victim’s vehicles and took a coat and a change holder.  The loss is estimated at $85. 

1:48 p.m. – A petty theft was reported on the 200 block of Crescent Drive. 

3:14 p.m. – A burglary was reported on the 200 block of Las Lomas. 

3:15 p.m. – A petty theft was reported in the 200 block of Las Lomas. 

3:15 p.m. – Another petty theft was reported in the 200 block of Las Lomas. 

6:23 p.m. – A juvenile disturbance was reported at Sinaloa Middle School on Vineyard Road.  There are 10 to 15 kids at the school and some are on a container box at the rear of the school.  The reporting party is a teacher who is concerned because one of the kids had previously smashed windows at the school with a golf club.  The kids were gone on arrival and could not be located. 

April 16 

11:13 a.m. – A student at Novato High School was cited for making harassing phone calls. 

12:41 p.m. – A fraud was reported in the 500 block of Loleta Lane.  A victim found fraudulent use of her debit card. 

12:57 p.m. – Threats were reported on the 1100 block of Third Street.  The reporting party is a landlord who just had a confrontation with a tenant.  The tenant threatened the landlord.  Advice was given to both parties regarding civil eviction issues.  The tenant was served with civil papers and a 24-hour inspection notice was given. 

1:55 p.m. – Found property was reported in the 200 block of Casa Grande Real.  Approximately 100 pills were dumped on the ground near the reporting party's vehicle.  The incident appears to be related to earlier petty theft events. 

2:52 p.m. – A petty theft was reported in the 100 block of Crescent Drive.  A victim’s vehicle was entered and a red iPod shuffle with green ear buds was taken.  A black on black Sag knife with three-inch blade was also taken. 

9:06 p.m. – A burglary was reported in the 300 block of Captain Nurse Circle.  A Playstation and controller and a ring were missing from the residence.  Ther was no forced entry.  The victim suspects a local resident.  One was arrested and booked for burglary and receiving stolen property. 

9:28 p.m. – A man was arrested and booked for driving under the influence in the vicinity of eastbound Highway 37 at Marsh Drive.  

10:38 p.m. – A driver was stopped for vehicle code violations in the vicinity of Redwood Boulevard and Vallejo Avenue was cited and released for driving with a falsified registration, and driving a trailer with no registration.  The vehicle was towed away. 

10:45 p.m. – A reporting party heard a loud crash in the vicinity of Cambridge Street and Denlyn Street.  One was arrested and booked on suspicion of driving under the influence. 

April 17 

8:41 a.m. – People were reported threatening members and employees at the Marin Country Club on Country Club Drive.  The reporting party described the people as a white woman about 45 years old and a Hispanic man in his 40s.  No weapons were reported.  The two were gone on arrival and a search of the area met with negative results. 

10:04 a.m. – A verbal disturbance was reported at Safeway on Nave Drive.  Six people petitioning were arguing with managers of the store.  The parties were contacted and advised.  Safeway is in the process of obtaining restraining orders on the people involved.  No further assistance was requested. 

12:40 p.m. – An identity theft was reported in the 1200 block of Highland Drive.  Unknown(s) used the victim’s Social Security number to file with the IRS and attempted to open three credit accounts at stores.  The reporting party has her credit report.  

1:06 p.m. – A verbal disturbance was reported at Safeway gas station on Nave Drive.  The reporting party said a man is not allowing him to get his Green Scion to the pump because he won’t move from the lane.  Advice was given to the people involved.  They had also been contacted earlier by NPD.  Safeway management advised that they have an upcoming court date and that they will be serving the party with papers.  No further assistance was requested. 

1:53 p.m. – An assault and battery was reported at Novato High School.  Two girls were in a physical altercation.  They are currently in the school office and cooperative.  The girls were cited for battery and released.   

3:56 p.m. – Shoplifting was reported at the Claire’s store on Vintage Way.  The reporting party said they had detained a 13-year-old boy.  The business did not want to press charges however security wished to issue the boy a trespassing notice which advised the boy and his mother that he could not return to the store again or he would be cited. 

4:29 p.m. – A burglary was reported in the 400 block of Fernbridge Place.  The reporting party said that her house was broken into yesterday sometime between 8:30 am and 5 p.m.  Her son’s iTouch and an Xbox were taken.  She believes a neighborhood kid may be responsible.  The loss is about $515. 

7:16 p.m. – A citizen requested assistance at the Novato Marin Community Clinic in the 6100 block of Redwood Boulevard.  The reporting party had an   agitated drug-seeking patient come by the facility and she is nervous about walking to her car.  The man’s name and description were provided to officer(s).  The reporting party was provided with an escort to her vehicle.  The man was not seen in the area upon arrival. 

8 p.m. – Shoplifting was reported at the Dollar Tree.  The reporting party said that there is a man currently stealing items and that he is putting them in his pockets.   A picture frame is in the back of his pants.  The reporting party described the man as white, in his 60s, wearing a black hat and a white shirt with jeans.  The man was contacted. The Petaluma resident had money on his person and admitted that he took the $1 picture frame for an unknown reason after spending $23 in the store.  The reporting party requested that he be advised no to come back to the store.  He returned the item.  There was no loss reported and the man was advised not to return. 

10:08 p.m. – Two people were cited for probation violations in the vicinity of Lamont Avenue and Reichert Avenue.
