Former Corte Madera Mayor Killed in Highway 1 Crash in Sonoma

Robert Dunn and 16-year-old Dylan Barry were killed near in Sonoma Saturday.

Former Corte Madera Mayor Robert Dunn, 75, was killed in a crash off Highway 1 in Sonoma County Saturday. Dunn's nephew, 16-year-old Dylan Barry was also killed in the crash. 

According to The Press Democrat, the two were killed after their Ferrari ran off the road and hit a tree. 

Investigators don't know who was driving, but found that the sports car drifted onto the shoulder before driving off the highway and crashing into a tree. The car then burst into flames and caused a small patch of brush and shrubs on the hillside to catch fire.

The crash occurred around 11 a.m. April 13 north of Salt Point State Park, the Press Democrat reported

Dunn served as a Corte Madera Town Councilmember for six years and was mayor twice, according to Law Press Corp. website

Both Dunn and Barry were pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators don't believe alcohol was a factor in the crash. 

A candlelight vigil will be held for Barry at 7:30 p.m. today at Redwood High School, where he was a sophomore. The school is located at 395 Dougherty Drive in Larkspur.
