Fight Sends One to Psych Ward for Evaluation

The following information from Nov. 21–27 was supplied by the Novato Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

The Headliner: 

Nov. 27 – 11:31 p.m. – A physical fight between two people was reported in the vicinity of Fourth Street and Vallejo Avenue.  The reporting party said he witnessed one person being hit over the head with a bottle.  One was transported to Marin General for a psychiatric evaluation.  Both people were booked on various charges.

7:01 a.m. – A Novato High School employee reported that all of the groundskeeping vehicles had been vandalized.  

11:44 a.m. – A vehicle was burglarized overnight on Bonnie Brae Drive. The loss is undetermined at this time.

4:59 p.m. – A fence in the 300 block of Rowland Boulevard was vandalized with graffiti. 

5:12 p.m. – One person was held in custody for shoplifting at the Lucky market on Grant Avenue.  The person was cited and released.  Approximately $50 worth of merchandise was recovered. 

9:31 p.m. – A custom black BMX bicycle with white handlebars was stolen outside the Safeway on Diablo Avenue after the owner left it unlocked outside of the store. 

6:26 p.m. – Unwanted people were reported near the Quezada Market on Rowland Boulevard.  Two men that had been loitering in the parking lot had tried to steal beer.  They had also been drinking and urinated nearby.  The two were contacted and advised to leave the area and not return. 

10:03 p.m. – A verbal disturbance was reported in the 1000 block of Green Oak Drive.  A man on the second floor was heard yelling obscenities at someone and throwing bottles off a balcony.  He was booked at the Marin County Jail on suspicion of being drunk in public.  

Nov. 22 

4:32 a.m. – A physical fight was reported at America’s Best Value Inn on Redwood Boulevard.  Four people were contacted and identified and released at the scene.  One was instructed not to return to the premises. 

8:30 a.m. – Graffiti vandalism was reported in the 1500 block of South Novato Boulevard.  The back wall of three businesses had been vandalized with black spray paint. 

9:12 a.m. – A large coyote was spotted in the creek near the Edgewater Apartments and to the rear of Fernando’s restaurant.  The reporting party said the animal was staring at pedestrians.  The creek area was checked on foot and the animal could not be located. 

9:58 a.m. – The owner of a medical building in the 1700 block of Novato Boulevard reported vandalism and homeless encampments to the rear of his building.  He has requested extra patrols in the evenings due to repeated vandalism. 

10:21 a.m. – A grand theft was reported in the 300 block of Ignacio Boulevard.  Four copper downspouts had been removed from the exterior of the building. 

11:46 a.m. – A girl in the 1500 block of South Novato Boulevard was cited and released for shoplifting and for being in possession of alcohol. 

12:27 p.m. – A grand theft was reported in the 1500 block of Merritt Drive.  An unlocked vehicle was entered overnight and a number of items were stolen.  The victim is making a list of missing items. 

2:13 p.m. – Graffiti vandalism was reported in the 1300 block of Grant Avenue.  The rear wall of a building was tagged. 

2:20 p.m. – A 20-year-old man was arrested and booked into Marin County Jail on suspicion of shoplifting at the Lucky market on Grant Avenue. 

3:09 p.m. – A woman was cited and released on suspicion of shoplifting at Lucky market on Grant Avenue. 

3:36 p.m. – A burglary was reported in the 1900 block of Marion Avenue.  The resident had left home for about an hour and returned home to find the front door open.  A laptop and other items had been taken. 

4:44 p.m. – A man was cited for petty theft in the vicinity of the Safeway on Nave Drive.  He had taken a purse out of a vehicle. 

8:27 p.m. – Five gun shots were reported heard in the vicinity of the 800 block of Pine Avenue.  A man was arrested and booked on an outstanding warrant and for possessing an altered replica firearm, but police said the arrest was not connected to the gun shots heard in the area.

Nov. 23 

11:54 a.m. – A burglary was reported at the Target store on Vintage Way.  An ex-employee has been returning to the store and taking video games to the restroom where he removes the game from the case.  

2:10 p.m. – A burglary was reported in the 1200 block of Lynwood Drive.  Unknown(s) entered the residence through an unlocked window and stole miscellaneous items.  Total loss is unknown at this time. 

2:21 p.m. – A burglary was reported in the 100 block of La Merida Court.  

7:18 p.m. – A person was booked into Marin County Jail on suspicion of driving under the influence in the vicinity of Gateway Court and Trinity Drive. 

9:50 p.m. – A person was booked into Marin County Jail on suspicion of driving under the influence in the vicinity of Gateway Court and Klamath Way. 

11:41 p.m. – A woman dropped off at America’s Best Value Inn on Redwood Boulevard left the cab without paying for her fare.  She was cited and released for defrauding an innkeeper.  The loss was $64.55. 

Nov 24 

12:45 a.m. – A man was arrested and booked on suspicion of driving under the influence in the vicinity of Second Street and Grant Avenue.  

8:42 a.m. – A vehicle was reported stolen in the 1100 block of Elm Drive.  The vehicle was last seen at 10 p.m. yesterday.  The vehicle is a burgundy 1997 Nissan Sentra four-door.  

12:32 p.m. – A burglary was reported in the 400 block of San Carlos Way.  The homeowner found the bathroom screen window on the ground and the garbage can moved to a position to gain access inside. 

3:31 p.m. – Shoplifting was reported at the CVS store on Novato Boulevard.  A man got out of a taxi van and took three to four bundles of wood from the right side of the store.  The man was white and about 50 years old.  He was wearing a black shirt and blue jeans and sunglasses.  The store manager said he would make an inquiry with the taxi company. 

10:03 p.m. – Gun shots were reported in the vicinity of Novato Boulevard and Thorsson Court.  The reporting party said that seven to eight shots were heard in the area.  The area was checked but nothing was heard or found. 

Nov. 25 

Call logs were missing or not available as of Nov. 28. 

Nov. 26 

2:20 a.m. – Vandalism was reported in the vicinity of Seventh Street and Marion Avenue.  Two white men were seen trying to damage vehicles.  One ran and jumped onto a car trying to break the side mirror off.  He then fell to the ground.  Both men were laughing and appeared to have been drinking.

8:35 a.m. – Graffiti vandalism was reported in the 1300 block of Leafwood Drive.  Gang taggings were spray painted onto the west side of the building. 

12:09 p.m. – A burglary was reported in the 1000 block of Green Oak Drive. Unknown(s) smashed a vehicle window and stole a purse and wallet.  The purse was later found during an area check.  Nothing appeared to be missing. 

3:10 p.m. – A burglary was reported in the 1000 block of Green Oak Drive.  Unknown(s) smashed a vehicle window and stole an iPhone from the front seat. 

4:02 p.m. – Shoplifting was reported at Lucky’s market on Grant Avenue.  A black man took soda and candy without paying and ran down Seventh Avenue toward Tamalpais Avenue.  The area was checked but the man could not be located. 

9:58 p.m. – An attempted burglary was reported on San Miguel Way.  Unknown(s) broke a garage door and removed a door screen but were not successful in making an entry.  Nothing was disturbed in the home.  The incident occurred sometime between 3:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. 

Nov. 27 

1:53 a.m. – An unwanted person was reported at the Circle K gas station in the 300 block of Ignacio Boulevard.  A black man in his 20s, wearing a Lakers jacket was passed out inside the store near the bathrooms.  The man was arrested and booked into Marin County Jail on suspicion of public drunkenness. 

9:40 a.m. – A burglary was reported on Alyssum Court.  A compressor was stolen from a garage overnight.  Other items were found moved around the garage.  

12:23 p.m. – Two dogs were seen barking in a vehicle in the vicinity of Orchard Way and Tamalpais Avenue.  The vehicle is a white Chevy Suburban and the windows are completely rolled up.  The reporting party said the dogs are going crazy and the vehicle has been parked there for at least four hours.  The report was referred to the Marin Humane Society. 

4:49 p.m. – Trespassing was reported at America’s Best Value Inn on Redwood Boulevard.  A white woman about 50 years old was in the lobby refusing to leave.  She will not talk to staff or let them help her.  She was in the lobby talking to the Coke machine.  The woman was booked for trespassing and disturbing the peace. 

7:13 p.m. – A person was booked into Marin County Jail for aggravated assault in the vicinity of Bolling Circle and Hutchins Way.  The victim refused an emergency protection order. 

7:30 p.m. – A burglary was reported on Tahoe Circle.  Unknown(s) removed a screen and entered via a sliding window.  The loss is unknown at this time. 

8:35 p.m. – Vandalism was reported on Monterey Court. A rock was thrown through a window. It appears to have been a random act. The damage was about $300.
