Fatherhood Brings On a Heartfelt High

The following information from Oct. 10-12 was supplied by the Novato Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

The Headliner: 

Oct. 12, 9:43 p.m. – Officer(s) assisted a medical agency after a 32-year-old male with a racing heart was reported on Sunset Parkway. The man said his wife was at Marin General Hospital and had just given birth that morning.  He has two other kids at home with him. He said he had just smoked some marijuana and may possibly have had a panic attack.

9:38 a.m. – Suspicious circumstance were reported in the 1100 block of Elm Drive when a resident saw a man attempting to gain access into his truck.  He was described as a black man about 22 years of age wearing a black jacket, black hat and blue jeans.  The man was contacted by officer(s) who said he was only checking his appearance in the vehicle’s mirror.  The reporting party said he was certain this was not the case.  The man was identified and released. 

11:23 a.m. – A burglary was reported on San Miguel Way after a resident found a rear sliding door wide open.  A list of losses is being put together and the investigation is ongoing.

Oct. 11 

12:02 a.m. – A driver in the vicinity of Gateway Court and South Novato Boulevard was stopped for vehicle code violations.  The driver was found to have had two suspensions and was cited.  The vehicle was also impounded. 

7:35 a.m. – Vandalism was reported in the 1200 block of Valley Oak Court.  The reporting party’s car and her mother’s car were both vandalized with window paint over night.  The reporting party believes her ex-boyfriend was responsible who has a history of vandalism.  The reporting party declined submitting a report. 

9:28 a.m. – A woman walked into the Chevron station on Rowland Way and asked the reporting party to call the PD.  She would not say why she wanted the PD.  The reporting party suspected mental illness and said the woman was unknown in the area.  The woman was taken to Marin General Hospital for psychiatric evaluation.

10:21 a.m. – A white male was reported to have been lying on a park bench at Miwok Park on Novato Boulevard and yelling at people in the park to “get out of his head.”  He was seen to have been driving a blue SUV with out-of-state plates. 

10:23 a.m. – A driver was reported speeding and swerving in the parking lot of Taco Bell on Rowland Boulevard.  The dark gray SUV with out-of-state plates may possibly be the same person that was reported at Miwok Park minutes earlier.  The reporting party said that the man is yelling at people and suspects mental illness.  The man was taken into protective custody. 

12:19 p.m. – Vandalism by a former tenant was reported on Shon Court.  The former tenant had been evicted and the post walk through revealed about $4100 in damages. 

1:16 p.m. – A person at Target on Vintage Way reported having custody of a 10-year-old child who said he was from Willits.  The child said he had spoken to his parents two days ago and that he had walked part way from Willits then got a ride to Novato.  He turned out to be a runaway from St. Vincent’s School for Boys in San Rafael.  Staff arrived and took custody of the boy. 

2:47 p.m. – A burglary was reported in the 1000 block of Machin Avenue. A woman came to remove items from her store, which had recently closed.  When she opened the door she said a 48-year-old white woman was loading items into her green Jeep Cherokee.  The reporting party was familiar with the woman and when she confronted her the woman left.  The total loss is unknown at this time. 

4:06 p.m. – Graffiti vandalism was reported in the vicinity of San Andreas Drive and San Marin Drive.  

6:11 p.m. – A stray pit bull with no collar was reportedly going after other dogs in the vicinity of Albion Court and Redwood Boulevard.  The Marin Humane Society took possession of the dog. 

10:01 p.m. – A man sitting on the floor of the lobby at the Century Theaters on Rowland Way was reportedly drunk and yelling at people.  He was arrested and booked for public drunkenness.  A complaint will also be filed for a violation relating to his probation. 

10:31 p.m. – A man in the 200 block of Mariner Way was booked into Marin County Jail for a probation violation and possession of a controlled substance. 

11:33 p.m. – Four Hispanic men were reported drinking and arguing in the street on the 1100 block of Elm Drive.  One was booked into Marin County Jail for public drunkenness. 

Oct 12 

8:33 p.m. – Graffiti vandalism was reported in the boys bathroom at Sinaloa Middle School.  Custodians have taken pictures of the taggings. 

1:24 p.m. – Shoplifting was reported at a business in the 1100 block of Grant Avenue.  A white woman in her 20s had tried to steal multiple items of clothing by trying them on in the dressing room.  The reporting party confronted her.  The woman continued to look around the store.  The woman was advised not to come back to the store and the store will call police if she returns.  

2:22 p.m. – A robbery was reported at US Bank on Nave Drive.  The investigation is ongoing. .

5:04 p.m. – A stolen vehicle was reported on Hamilton Drive.  A black flatbed trailer was reported missing. 

6:03 p.m. – A person was reported down on the ground after being hit by another in the 800 block of Diablo Avenue.  A woman was booked into Marin County Jail for domestic violence and assault with a deadly weapon. 

11:29 p.m. – A driver stopped for vehicle code violations in the vicinity of Center Road and Plaza Linda was cited for driving on a suspended license.   His vehicle was also impounded.
