Driver with Multiple DUI Priors Faces Fresh Felony

The following information from July 4-8 was supplied by the Novato Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

The Headliner: 

July 8, 6:39 p.m. – A driver was arrested and booked on suspicion of driving under the influence in the vicinity of Nova Lane.  The driver was also cited for driving with a suspended license, possession of a controlled substance, a violation of probation, and a felony drunken driving for multiple priors.

12:06 a.m. – One person on Western Drive was cited on suspicion of violating the social host ordinance.  Five or more people were found to be on premises and in possession of alcohol.  One 19-year-old man was found to be breathing but in an altered state of consciousness. 

2:04 a.m. – A petty theft was reported in the 1400 block of Monte Maria Avenue.  The reporting party said that two Hispanic boys were in his driveway and that he noticed the lights were on in his vehicle.  When he went outside he saw the boys walking down Monte Maria toward Cambridge Street. The reporting party said one of the boys was wearing high white socks. A GPS and a cell phone were taken from an unlocked vehicle.

2:16 a.m. – Suspicious circumstances were reported in the 1200 block of Lynwood Drive.  A reporting party said that three boys were found in his driveway so he gave chase and stopped one of them. He said the boy had been drinking and admitted taking things from the reporting party’s vehicle though he did not have anything in his hands at the time. 

5:23 p.m. – An assault with a deadly weapon was reported in the 1500 block of Center Road.  The reporting party said that there was an angry man with a Spanish accent saying something about being hit in the head and people drinking. One person used a knife to cut a victim in the webbing of his hand. The assailant was arrested and booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. 

6:36 p.m. – One was arrested on suspicion of public drunkenness in the 1500 block of Center Road after leaving the scene of an earlier assault. 

9:56 p.m. – A minor driver was cited and released for driving under the influence in the vicinity of Blanca Drive and Santa Maria Drive.  The minor was also cited for driving with another minor in the vehicle.  A passenger was also cited for being a minor in possession of alcohol.  

July 5 

4:34 a.m. – Two people at the Novato Days Inn in the 8100 block of Redwood Boulevard were booked on suspicion of health and safety violations.  They were transported to the Marin County Jail. 

7:03 a.m. – A burglary was reported on Commercial Boulevard.  Unknown(s) broke into a locked company truck overnight and stole some tools. 

12:09 p.m. – A burglary was reported in the 400 block of Fernbridge Place.  Unknown(s) broke into the victim’s vehicle overnight and stole some accessories. 

12:31 p.m. – A verbal disturbance was reported at Novato Chevrolet in the 7100 block of Redwood Boulevard.  A customer who wrote a bad check wants to pick up his new vehicle.  The customer was advised to obtain financing before the dealership will release the vehicle. 

1:50 p.m. – A grand theft was reported in the 1000 block of Green Oak Drive.  Unknown(s) took items from the victim’s convertible vehicle.  The top had been left down over night.  

2:30 p.m. – A burglary was reported in the 100 block of Cheda Lane.  Unknown(s) entered the victim’s residence through an open window and stole an Apple computer and a Canon camera. 

4:50 p.m. – Graffiti vandalism was reported in the 700 block of Santana Road.  A fence was painted with taggings.  The taggings were not gang related. 

7:24 p.m. – A recreation manager for a soccer field in the 1500 block of Hill Road reported that a Novato youth soccer camp had complained that there was a “squatter group” of males using the field and that the youth group could not play.  The group was contacted and advised of the reservation requirements.  The group agreed to abide by the request regarding future use of the field. 

8:02 p.m. – A petty theft was reported in the 1200 block of Grant Avenue.  The victim said that her bicycle had been locked up fronting the Strike Zone store. Unknown(s) had cut her chain and stole her bike. 

9:18 p.m. – The driver of a vehicle stopped for vehicle code violations in the 7600 block of Redwood Boulevard was arrested and booked on suspicion of driving under the influence.  The driver was transported to Marin County Jail. 

9:48 p.m. – A man was arrested and booked into Marin County Jail for suspicion of driving under the influence in the vicinity of De Long Avenue and Redwood Boulevard. 

July 6 

7:52 a.m. – A petty theft was reported at San Marin High School.  Unknown(s) stole a brass plaque from the Lefty Gomez Field.  The plaque was valued at more than $1,000. For a full story on this incident, click . 

9:59 a.m. – Graffiti vandalism was reported on Hathaway Drive.  Unknown(s) used a black marker to tag the victim’s property with gang-oriented graffiti. 

5:01 p.m. – A woman reported that her ex has texted her stating that he is going to kill her and their 3-year-old daughter.  The girl is with a relative.  The man was booked into Marin County Jail on suspicion of making threats. 

8:04 p.m. – A burglary was reported in the 500 block of Village Circle.  Unknown(s) entered the residence through an open window upstairs.  The loss is a Wii system and a 3D Gameboy.  Additional losses are being determined. 

10:17 p.m. – A driver stopped for vehicle code violations in the vicinity of southbound Highway 101 at De Long Avenue was found to be driving without a suspended or revoked license.  The driver was also cited for displaying fraudulent tags and was released.  The vehicle was towed away and impounded. 

11:01 p.m. – Resident(s) reported hearing yelling between a man and a woman.  The woman was screaming that she not all right.  One was arrested and booked for violating a domestic violence temporary restraining order. 

July 7 – (Call logs unavailable) 

July 8 

3:11 a.m. – A broken car window was reported on Nova Lane.  One was arrested for spousal abuse and violating a domestic violence restraining order. 

9:36 a.m. – A black 2012 Corvette was reported stolen overnight from Novato Chevrolet in the 7100 block of Redwood Boulevard. 

6:15 p.m. – A woman picked up the front door phone to the police station on Machin Avenue and advised that a man was here to turn himself in.  The man was arrested and booked into Marin County Jail for four outstanding warrants. 

9:36 p.m. – A petty theft was reported at the Grocery Outlet in the 1500 block of South Novato Boulevard.  The reporting party’s cell phone was stolen from a check stand.  The store has video footage of the suspect. 

10:20 p.m. – One was arrested and booked for possession of concentrated cannabis in the 900 block of Diablo Avenue.
