Driving Super Tired Almost Like Driving Drunk

The following information from Sept. 19-21 was supplied by the Novato Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

The Headliner:

11:16 p.m., Sept. 19 — A gray Volvo with roof racks was seen swerving, running a stop sign and almost hitting a curb in the area of Mill and Vineyard roads. The reporting party followed the driver until the Volvo pulled into a driveway. Officers determined the driver was just fatigued and alcohol was not a factor.

12:56 a.m. — Someone called to report a screaming baby on Pinewood Lane. The reporting party rang the doorbell and there was no answer. The occupants were contacted and a man said the baby was throwing a tantrum.

7:46 a.m. — A man on Merritt Lane went to a hospital with bites from his girlfriend on his arm. Emergency room source says scratches and bite marks were observed. The man doesn't want to press charges.

11:10 a.m. — A noninjury collision was reported at Novato Boulevard and Pine Avenue. A report was taken on the crash between a black Infiniti and a red compact.

12:38 p.m. — A report of a man and woman on Second Street pushing each other and yelling turned out to be two juveniles involved in horseplay as they were walking and eating popsicles.

1:35 p.m. — A teen reported to be stumbling and possibly intoxicated on Plum Street turned out to be just singing. No merit to being drunk in public.

3:47 p.m. — A woman on Second Street said she was receiving harassing phone calls from her boyfriend's family. She said two people said they would have her harmed. Case taken for documentation.

5:01 p.m. — A woman on Barcelona Drive said $800 in cash is missing from a desk in her house. She mentioned that a repairman was in the house earlier in the week.

5:44 p.m. — A woman said someone struck her vehicle while it was parked in a parking lot on Owens Drive.

7:18 p.m. — A woman on Zoila Court said $1,800 was deducted from her checking account and fraudulent purchases were made. Fraud report filed.

Sept. 20

10:24 a.m. — A noninjury collision was reported at Grant Avenue at Fifth Street. The drivers are in a verbal altercation. Case taken.

10:40 a.m. — A 15-year-old student Novato High student pushed an office manager as he ran from an assistant principal's office after being confronted about marijuana use.

11 a.m. — A resident of Garden Court said her diamond ring went missing on Aug. 26, possibly while a worker was at the house. The woman no longer lives at the residence. The estimated value was $1,800.

11:12 a.m. — A woman on Club View Drive said her carport was hit overnight and also three weeks ago. She suspects neighbors.

5:36 p.m. — A suspicious subject was "watching people opening their garages" on Almond Court. One suspect vehicle was gone on officer arrival and another one was unoccupied.

5:50 p.m. — Someone on Cherry Street said another person came into his apartment and stole Vicodin pills from a kitchen table.

8:58 p.m. — A resident of Oliva Drive reported that someone under his name used his PayPal account and charged $1,100 to it. Case taken for identity theft.

10:36 p.m. — A resident of a care facility on Marion Court said he climbed over a fence at a zoo to take pictures of bears and is threatening to do it again. The person was contacted and said he never entered the animal cage during his last visit to the zoo. He was not deemed to be a danger to himself.

Sept. 21

1:11 a.m. — One person was arrested on suspicion of drug use after being seen with a methamphetamine pipe near Main Gate Road and Nave Drive.
8:32 a.m. — Someone broke into a storage shed in the 100 block of Hamilton Drive and stole some copper wire. A hole was cut in the chain-link fence and a padlock was cut on the shed door.

8:40 a.m. — A woman said a driver struck her while she was driving near the Burger King in Ignacio. The caller complained of a foot injury. A felony hit-and-run investigation was begun.

12:31 p.m. — A vehicle went off the road and into a ditch off San Marin Drive. The driver had a minor injury. Click here to see a full story on this incident.

12:58 p.m. — A resident of Susan Way said three people are cutting trees even though they weren't hired to do so. The workers refused to say who they are working for. An officer was shown paperwork that they had been hired by the homeowners association to do the work.

1:32 p.m. — A mother and daughter got into a fight on Cherry Street. The mother said the daughter struck her numerous times on the head. The daughter was arrested on suspicion of assault.

2:22 p.m. — A red two-door car struck a black Honda and a second black Honda near Fourth Street and Elm Drive. Case taken for hit-and-run.

3:06 p.m. — An 18-year-old girl was threatened by a male acquaintance, according to the girl's former teacher. The man said he would post nude photos of the girl on Facebook if she didn't pay him money. A harassment report was filed.

3:22 p.m. — A minor-injury collision was reported in the 700 block of Redwood Boulevard. A black sedan and a silver car collided and were blocking lanes.

3:42 p.m. — An 18-year-old girl asked for help from a former teacher after admitting to emailing nude photos of herself to boys. The girl is upset and said she would kill herself if the photos got out. She was place on a psychiatric hold.

3:57 p.m. — Two boys were threatening each other and threatening to fight via Facebook. The reporting party on Estado Court said it is an ongoing issue. Advice was given to both parents.

5:34 p.m. — An employee from a business in the 7000 block of Redwood Boulevard was suspected of making threats during an argument about vehicles parking on the property. The reporting party said he was threatened with a gun, but officers determined there was no merit to a gun being involved.

9:02 p.m. — A resident of Paradise Court said a bank employee called to say an unknown subject. accessed the person's account. Also, a checkbook and ring were recently discovered missing from the house. Cases taken or attempted fraud and theft.

11:25 p.m. — An elderly woman fell and suffered a head would on a sidewalk near Hamilton Parkway and South Palm Drive. Family was contacted.
