The California Highway Patrol has identified the driver of a car that collided with a Novato Police Department motorcycle officer on Thursday afternoon.
CHP Officer Andrew Barclay said the 2001 Chevrolet Prism of 68-year-old Nancy Barrow collided with Officer Andrew Barrington's motorcycle around 1 p.m. Thursday on northbound Redwood Boulevard.
Barrington suffered moderate injuries that are not considered life-threatening and was treated at Marin General Hospital. Barrow, who stopped at the scene of the collision, was not injured, Barclay said.
Barrow's Chevrolet struck Barrington's police-issued Honda motorcycle after she turned right from westbound Rush Creek Place onto northbound Redwood Boulevard, Barclay said.
Barrow turned right just ahead of Barrington's motorcycle in the No. 2 lane. As Barrington began to pass Barrow, she drove into the No. 1 lane where the left side of her Chevrolet struck the right side of the motorcycle, Barclay said.
Barrington was ejected when the motorcycle fell onto its right side, and he and the motorcycle slid before coming to rest in the No. 1 lane, according to Barclay.
Two lanes of Redwood Boulevard were closed for approximately two hours for the collision investigation by the CHP and cleanup of the roadway, Barclay said.
Intoxication was not a factor in the collision, he said.
