Driver Found to be Drunk Suffers Major Injuries in Crash

Novato man was ejected from his car in Marinwood early Saturday morning, the CHP said.

A 31-year-old Novato man later found to be intoxicated was ejected from a car and suffered major injuries in a crash on Highway 101 in Novato, the California Highway Patrol said Monday.

James Dibasilio was northbound on 101 when lost control of his 1998 Lexus at 3:30 a.m. Saturday just south of the Marinwood exit in San Rafael, according to CHP officer Eric Hohmeister. The car slammed into the center divide, sending it into a roll and landing in the southbound lanes.

Paramedics from the Novato Fire District took Dibasilio to Marin General Hospital for treatment of lacerations to his head, face, back and torso along with a broken leg and hand.
