An 84-year-old San Rafael man was in police custody on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol Friday after he crashed his sedan into a downtown Novato auto parts store, said.
Kendall Hobbs was parking his car outside the store at 7426 Redwood Blvd. at about 12:51 p.m. when he rammed ' front doors and shattered the glass, Novato police Lt. Keith Heiden said.
Officers determined that he had been drinking alcohol and took him into custody. Hobbs complained of minor pain from the crash impact and was being evaluated at a local hospital, Heiden said.
Novato police were deciding whether to book Hobbs into Marin County Jail or cite and release him, the lieutenant said.
