Dog Given Reprieve After a Verbal With a Vacuum Cleaner

The following information from June 20-23 was supplied by the Novato Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

The Headliner: 

June 22, 9:21 a.m. – A noise disturbance was reported on Brown Drive.  A dog had been barking for over 30 minutes.  The Humane Society was with a person at the residence and taking the animal upon arrival.  Officer(s) spoke with a house cleaner who had said that she had put the dog outside while cleaning because the dog bites the vacuum cleaner.  The dog was moved inside prior to departure.  

June 20

11:21 a.m.  – A homeless encampment was reported in the 200 block of Entrada Drive.  The reporting party said there was a homeless encampment to the rear of the inn.  One encampment had already been marked with a clean up notice earlier today.  The other area appears to be just bags of waste.  The Department of Public Works was contacted and advised. 

12:33 p.m. – A burglary was reported at Sinaloa Middle School.  The reporting party’s car had been parked since Monday at the school due to a school trip.  A window was smashed.  The loss is unknown at this time.

12:53 p.m. – A man on Winding Way reported an identity theft.  The reporting party said that unknown(s) have hacked into his on-line accounts. 

1:13 p.m. – A woman in the 300 block of Enfrente Road reported that her father had been drinking in violation of his probation.  He is currently laying on the ground near the entrance to the apartments.  He could also be wandering around the area.  Novato Fire District paramedics transported the man to Novato Community Hospital due to a lack of responsiveness in his intoxicated state.  A complaint has been filed with the Marin County DA’s office for a violation of probation and public drunkenness. 

2:34 p.m. – An animal incident was reported in the vicinity of Arthur Street and Novato Boulevard.  A brown lab was running through traffic in the area.  The dog attempted to get on a Golden Gate Transit bus but the driver removed the dog from the bus.  The dog did not have a collar or microchip and was brought to the Marin Humane Society to determine if the owner could be located. 

4:36 p.m. – A reporting party at Leslie’s Swimming Pool Supplies said that a man came in to the store to return a pool pump.  A district manager had told the reporting party that a pump had been purchased at their Roseville location with a fake check and that that the man has been trying to return the item at multiple stores.  The reporting party was advised to first have the original fraud victim to contact the Roseville PD.  The reporting party had no further information regarding the subject. 

7:01 p.m. – One was booked for suspicion of driving under the influence in the 100 block of San Marin Drive. 

June 21 

12:31 a.m. – Graffiti vandalism was reported in the 1500 block of Hill Road.  Unknown(s) spray painted taggings at the entrance to an apartment complex in white paint.  The reporting party provided information about four young men who occupied a green BMW parked in front of the entrance.  

1:06 a.m. – A burglary was reported on Cielo Lane.  The reporting party’s white 2001 GMC Sierra was broken into over night.  A neighbor found the vehicle with the doors wide open.  The vehicle had been locked.  A speaker box with two 12” sub-woofers had been taken from the back seat of the vehicle.   The loss is $800. 

1:46 a.m. – Vandalism was reported in the 500 block of Fairway Drive.  The reporting party said that an unknown was knocking on a door yelling, “I’m going to get you.”  An unknown broke the windshield to the reporting party’s truck. According to the reporting party, he had approved a party for his son in which fifty 18 to 20 year olds were invited.  The reporting party said he did not furnish alcohol.  Approximately 15 of the people in attendance were unwanted at the party and were told to leave. 

9:39 a.m. – A fraud was reported on Wild Oak Drive.  A reporting party said that about two weeks ago three men had come to her door and said that she had a leaking pipe on her roof.  They said that they would fix it for $400.  After “fixing” it they told her it was $9000.  They settled on $3000 and escorted her to the bank where she then paid them in cash.  The victim provided very little suspect information. 

2:11 p.m. – A burglary was reported in the 300 block of Captain Nurse Circle.  The reporting party says that she has been moving out of a house and when she came back she found property missing.  The reporting party has possible suspect information.  She says there are new people in the house now and the reporting party cannot enter the home. 

5:05 p.m. – Vandalism was reported in the 800 block of Vallejo Avenue.  Unknown(s) scratched a victim’s vehicle with a key causing damage estimated at $1,000. 

5:52 p.m. – A petty theft was reported on Partridge Drive.  The reporting party said that on June 5 unknown(s) had entered his unlocked vehicle and took his wallet.  The reporting party was notified that his wallet was found in Amador County and that he needs to make a report.  

7:13 p.m. – A burglary was reported in the 1300 block of Hamilton Parkway.  The reporting party said that jewelry had been taken from her room. 

June 22 

12:07 a.m. – One was arrested and booked for suspicion of driving under the influence in the vicinity of Seventh Street and Grant Avenue.  The driver was also cited for driving without a license. 

2:46 a.m. – A physical fight was reported in the 900 block of Simmons Lane.  Two men were fighting in front of a residence.  Both men declined to pursue battery charges against the other.  Both were released to a woman. 

9:41 a.m. – A stolen vehicle was reported in the vicinity of westbound Highway 37 and Atherton Avenue.  The reporting party is with the Novato Sanitation District and would like to report the theft of equipment and an off-road trailer.  

3:05 p.m. – A petty theft was reported on Mariner Way.  The registration tabs had been removed from the victim’s vehicle’s rear license plate.  

7:16 p.m. – Reckless driving was reported in the vicinity of Novato Boulevard and San Marin Drive.  An older model blue green Ford Taurus full of teenage boys has come towards the reporting party’s vehicle at 65 mph.  The incident appeared intentional to the reporting party.  Officer(s) contacted the occupants of the vehicle parked at The Square Shopping Center.  There was no merit to criminal activity. 

8:02 p.m. – A 62-year-old woman in the 500 block of Santana Road was bitten on her upper leg by a dog.  The dog owner and the victim are on the scene.  Marin Humane Society is now handling and nothing further was requested from NPD. 

9:42 p.m. – A person was booked for suspicion of driving under the influence in the vicinity of Ignacio Boulevard and Palmer Drive.  The person was taken to Marin County Jail. 

9:46 p.m. – A person was booked into Marin County Jail on suspicion of driving under the influence in the vicinity of southbound Highway 101 and Alameda Del Prado.  The person was also cited for a probation violation and other vehicle codes. 

10:55 p.m. – A driver stopped for a vehicle code violation on Entrada Drive was cited for driving without a license and possession of alcohol.  The person was released to parents. 

11:12 p.m. – A person was booked on suspicion of driving under the influence in the vicinity of DeLong Avenue and Redwood Boulevard. 

11:49 p.m. – A person was booked on suspicion of driving under the influence in the 900 block of Diablo Avenue.  

11:54 a.m. – A man in the vicinity of De Long Avenue and Redwood Boulevard was booked into Marin County Jail on suspicion of being drunk in public.  

June 23 

3:23 a.m. – A petty theft was reported in the 1100 block of Cambridge Street.  Two men wearing all black clothing were seen looking into cars and trying the doors.  The reporting party believes they may have gotten into a neighbors car.  Officer(s) contacted two victims who had their vehicles gone through with no apparent loss. 

3:47 a.m. – A petty theft was reported in the 1000 block of Cambridge Street.  Unknown(s) entered a victim’s vehicle.  The loss is unknown at this time. 

7:08 a.m. – A vehicle was reported stolen in the 700 block of Diablo Avenue.  A red Honda Civic was taken over night.  A set of keys was left in the vehicle. 

7:38 a.m. – A burglary was reported in the 1200 block of Lynwood Drive.  A tan 1998 Toyota Avalon was gone through.  The vehicle had been locked but was found unlocked.  Nothing appeared to have been stolen from inside the vehicle. 

12:09 p.m. – Vandalism was reported at Novato High School.  Unknown(s) master-locked a marijuana flag to the schools flagpole.  The incident is believed to have occurred over night. The flag was removed. 

1:08 p.m. – Shoplifting was reported at the Costco store on Vintage Way.  The reporting party said that a customer had stuffed items into a box and attempted to purchase only the one item.  The person was cited and released on suspicion of shoplifting. 

1:26 p.m. – Two teenage girls came upon a tent with a body in it in the vicinity of Palmer Drive and Redwood Boulevard.  They were instructed to go back to Redwood Boulevard and standby.  Officer(s) contacted a homeless woman sleeping on the trail.  She was advised of the complaint and moved along. 

8:05 p.m. – A woman on Spinosa Way said that her 17-year-old daughter is in her bedroom smoking marijuana with a girl friend.  She said the door is locked and she has asked them to stop.  Her daughter will not come out and began swearing at her. The reporting party was given advice regarding her daughter’s behavior and holding her accountable for her actions.  The daughter was counseled and the reporting party was advised to call back if there are any further issues.
