Couple Sleeping in Car Had Outstanding Warrants

The following information from Mar 12-13 was supplied by the Novato Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

 

The Headliner: 

Mar. 13, 12:13 p.m. – A couple was reported sleeping in a car in an apartment complex parking lot in the 1500 block of Center Road.  The reporting party described them as a white man and a white woman.  There were no license plates on the vehicle.  The couple was contacted and both were arrested and booked into Marin County Jail.  The man had an outstanding warrant from Sonoma County and was arrested on suspicion of carrying a concealed knife.  The woman had an outstanding “no bail” warrant from Marin County.

Mar. 12 

12:06 a.m. – A reporting party on Stasia Drive said that her sister’s boyfriend had snuck into their house without permission.  The boyfriend is 18 and the reporting party’s sister is 17.  The reporting party’s mother is disabled and she had asked her daughter to call the PD.  There was no merit to any crime and all parties were counseled.  The boyfriend was advised that if he returned without permission he would be trespassing.

3:38 a.m. – A security officer has a man detained for trespassing at an apartment building in the 1500 block of Hill Road.  The man is not being cooperative and has been put in handcuffs.  The man was cited and released on suspicion of trespassing and was moved along. 

9:50 a.m. – A suspicious vehicle was reported in the vicinity of Vineyard Road and Mill Road.  The reporting party said that a black man was seen driving around the area in a light blue sedan with no hubcaps.  At one point, the man jumped out of the car and ran after the reporting party. The vehicle was gone on arrival and could not be located. The reporting party described the man as a black male, early to mid 20s, standing about 5’8 to 6’, with short hair and a round face.

11:22 a.m. – A stolen vehicle was reported in the 500 block of Alameda Del Prado.  A black 1996 Acura Integra was stolen from a man who had just purchased the vehicle the previous day.  He bought the car from his cousin and insured it.  His cousin does not have the car and the apartment complex did not have it towed.  It was last seen at 10 p.m. on Mar. 11.  

12:31 p.m. – Officer(s) assisted a citizen who had locked a baby in a new Honda Accord in the vicinity of the Nave Shopping Center on South Novato Boulevard.  The owners do not have AAA.  The baby was observed happily playing with the keys inside the vehicle.  Nave Tow opened the vehicle.  The child was fine. 

12:45 p.m. – Trespassing was reported at the Days Inn on Redwood Boulevard.  A woman who has been repeatedly asked to stay off the property had someone rent a room for her.  The woman is saying that she has no money and she is believed to be homeless.  The same situation occurred last Friday.  The woman left but was advised by officer(s) that if she returns again she will be arrested for trespassing. 

5:01 p.m. – A woman who was picking up her 4-month-old son from the father’s mother requested a civil standby on Albatross Drive.  A man was booked on suspicion of violating a court order.  He was also advised to stay away from the residence. 

9:05 p.m. – A homeless encampment was reported in the vicinity of the 800 block of Olive Avenue.  About 20 people have recently relocated to this location according to the reporting party.  Several subjects were contacted by officer(s) and moved along. 

9:45 p.m. – A driver was seen running over a tree, hitting another vehicle and then parking next to a handicapped stall near the entrance to the Safeway store on Diablo Avenue.  The driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and hit and run. 

10:59 p.m. – A stolen vehicle was reported in the 1100 block of Elm Drive.  A green Acura that had been last seen parked on the street was no longer there.  The reporting party was not sure if the vehicle was stolen or towed.  (Language barrier noted.) The vehicle appears to have been stolen sometime over the last few days. 

Mar. 13 

12:15 a.m. – Suspicious circumstances were reported in the 1100 block of Grant Avenue.  A 70s model faded reddish brown van was seen circling the block at least three times.  The reporting party was concerned because he also saw a young woman on foot walking on Second Street towards Vallejo Avenue.  The driver of the van was contacted who said he was just passing through town and was tired.  He thought it would be safer to sleep somewhere for a few hours before continuing to drive. 

10:16 a.m. – A person at Novato High School reported having a student in the office with marijuana.  The student was cited on suspicion of possession of cigarette paraphernalia. 

12:07 p.m. – Extra patrols were requested in the vicinity of Nave Drive and State Access Road.  The reporting party said that at 6 p.m. yesterday a man was seen allegedly dealing drugs in the area.  The reporting party described the man as Hispanic, in his late 20s, 5’10” tall and about 185 pounds.  The man was also seen using a brown trench coat as a display for an array of drug items.  

3:21 p.m. – A person at Novato High School was cited on suspicion of possession of marijuana. 

3:33 p.m. – A fraud was reported in the 400 block of Scotia Lane.  Unknown(s) used a victim’s credit card number in Las Vegas.  The loss was $4,000. 

8:54 p.m. – A customer at the Safeway store on Nave Drive reported a stolen phone.  The victim did not have suspect information. The loss was about $600. 

9:52 p.m. – A resident in the vicinity of Alice Street and Franklin Avenue requested extra patrols after reportedly hearing “Draino bombs” blowing up on a consistent basis. 

10:37 p.m. – A man stole a knife from a restaurant in the 800 block of Grant Avenue.  The reporting party described the man as Hispanic, wearing a navy blue hoodie, tan pants and black shoes.  He left the restaurant and is having a verbal argument with a customer in the rear parking lot.  The man was placed on a psychiatric hold and transported to Marin General Hospital.
