Coroner IDs West Marin Fatal Solo Crash Victim as 23-Year-Old Petaluma Man

Abraham Avalos was pronounced dead at the scene soon after emergency crews arrived at a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck that was fully engulfed in flames, according to the Sheriff's Office.

A 23-year-old Petaluma man was killed in a May 20 solo crash early Monday morning near Hicks Valley in West Marin, the Coroner Division of the Marin County Sheriff's Office confirmed Thursday.

Abraham Avalos was pronounced dead at the scene soon after emergency crews arrived at a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck that was fully engulfed in flames on Point Reyes-Petaluma Road just northwest of Novato Blvd. at around 12:15 a.m. Monday, Sheriff's Lt. Jamie Scardina said.

The investigation continued into the cause and circumstances of the death, Scardina said, while the California Highway Patrol is investigating the exact cause of the crash.

The driver of a pickup truck was killed in a fiery solo crash on Point Reyes-Petaluma Road, west of Novato Boulevard in rural west Marin, according to the California Highway Patrol.
