Contractor Breaks Gas Line

A plumbing contractor broke a small feeder gas line to a residence near the intersection of Partridge Drive and Simmons Lane this morning.

A break in a service pipe by a contractor resulted in a gas leak near the intersection of Partridge Drive and Simmons Lane this morning.

PG&E spokesperson Jason King said that the half-inch service pipe was a feeder that served one residence and was broken by a plumbing contractor at the home.

“We always urge people, no matter how large or small the project, to call 811 before you dig,” King said.

PG&E dispatched a crew on site and as of noon were not sure when the line would be repaired and service restored to the home. Novato Fire was also dispatched briefly to make sure the site was safe.

King said that the flow of gas was venting safely. He added that it was a small gas leak because the line only served one residence.
