Construction Site Near Buck Institute Hit By Thieves

The following information from Nov. 3-6 was supplied by the Novato Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

The Headliner: 

Nov. 5, 7:44 a.m. – A grand theft was reported at a job site near the Buck Institute on North Redwood Boulevard.  The reporting party said there recently had been three separate incidents of theft.

3:52 a.m. – Homeless people were reportedly camped out by the railroad tracks having a bonfire in the vicinity of Golden Gate Place.  The people were contacted, admonished and asked to move along. 

10:31 a.m. – A burglary was reported on Cypress Court.  Unknown(s) gained entry into a locked vehicle over night and stole a wallet containing $60 and an iPod.  The total loss was approximately $211.

10:59 a.m. – A hit-and-run misdemeanor was reported in the 1700 block of Grant Avenue.  A brown four-door older model sedan sideswiped a white Toyota Tacoma pickup truck.  Partial plate information was provided. 

2:56 p.m. – Suspicious circumstances were reported in the 300 block of Captain Nurse Circle after a resident discovered that unknown(s) may have made a hole in the gas filler neck on his vehicle.  The hole was found between the gas cap access door and the gas tank.  It was not determined if it was intentional or something that occurred during operation of the vehicle. 

7:53 p.m. – Vandalism was reported at the Wyndover Apartments after a tenant got into a verbal argument with another person over parking spaces.  One then hit a box containing the sprinkler system for the complex.  No damage was noted and the issue was worked out between the parties. 

8:50 p.m. – A reporting party in the 700 block of Lamont Avenue said a son was going berserk, yelling at the family and pulling a telephone out of the wall. One was arrested for elder abuse and for destruction of a telephone line. 

Nov 4 

6:49 a.m. – Vandalism was reported at Novato High School. Unknown(s) marked large portions of the school with obscenities in chalk overnight. It was removed by Novato Unified School District. Damage was about $20. 

8:46 a.m. – A woman reported that friends of a mugging suspect have been threatening her.  Earlier in the day a Hispanic man wearing a black sweatshirt followed her daughter to work on a southbound bus.  He was arrested for threatening a witness and booked into the Marin County Jail. 

10:01 a.m. – A suspicious person was reported in front of the Novato Library on Novato Boulevard.  A white woman in her 30s with blond hair wearing a dark jacket carrying a backpack was heading toward the creek with her dog.  The reporting party attempted to drop off some books but the dog was growling at the citizen.  The reporting party asked her to move but the woman started yelling.  The woman was contacted and moved along. 

11:54 a.m. – Three Novato High School students were found to be in possession of marijuana. One had more than an ounce in possession. They were cited and released to their parents. 

2:23 p.m. – A woman was reported down in the roadway bleeding from the head in the vicinity of Center Road and Eucalyptus Avenue.  The 75-year-old woman said she was walking her dog when she tripped and fell.  

3:19 p.m. – Vandalism was reported in the 500 block of San Marin Drive.  The reporting party has video of a teenage boy vandalizing his building.  

5:34 p.m. – Shoplifting was reported at the CVS store on Grant Avenue.  A Hispanic boy about 16 years of age wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans with a black knit hat stole a bottle of alcohol.  He left the store headed toward Seventh Avenue.  The store has surveillance video of the incident. 

6:39 p.m. – A major injury accident was reported in the vicinity of Novato Boulevard and Twin Creeks Court.  A 14-year-old boy was struck by a vehicle and transported to Marin General Hospital with a head injury. 

9:13 p.m. – A woman on Zanco Way reported that her daughter got violent with her.  A girl could be heard screaming in the background.  The woman hung up and dispatch could not get her back on the line.  One was cited for battery. 

Nov. 5 

10:37 a.m. – A woman on Lakeview Court was arrested and booked for battery. 

11:04 a.m. – A woman in the 1000 block of Sixth Street reported that unknown(s) had taken her purse which contained a credit card, $100 in cash and a bottle of prescription pain medication.  She suspected two people who had been at her home the previous evening. 

12:14 p.m. – A resident in the 2000 block of Vineyard Road said that he now knew the identity of kids who had smashed pumpkins and broke a window on Oct. 23.  He did not wish to pursue charges but requested that the parents be contacted. 

2:01 p.m. – A catalytic converter was stolen from a victim’s green ’94 Toyota 4Runner on Spinosa Way.  The victim said it occurred sometime during the last two weeks. 

4:40 p.m. – A man wearing a brown hat and a brown leather jacket told an employee at Safeway on Nave Drive that he was drunk and has no way to get home.  He said he didn’t know where he lived.  He was arrested and booked for public drunkenness. 

9:48 p.m. – A burglary was reported at the Ignacio Wine & Deli on Alameda Del Prado.  Three men came into the store and hit the cashier.  A white man punched the cashier white a black man stole a $42 bottle of bourbon. They fled on food. 

Nov. 6 

1:05 a.m. – A party complaint was reported at America’s Best Value Inn on Redwood Boulevard.  Staff had asked the occupants of a room to be quiet several times.  Complaints were received from other rooms.  The people were removed from the room at the request of staff. 

1:14 a.m. – The driver of a white Pontiac sitting in his vehicle at the Burger King on Alameda Del Prado was booked into Marin County Jail on suspicion of driving under the influence. 

7:39 a.m. – A petty theft was reported on Betty Lane.  The reporting party said his truck was broken into overnight and some electronics were stolen. 

3:35 p.m. – Suspicious circumstances were reported on Paladini Road.  A woman said that a white man about 60 years of age driving a white Lincoln Navigator keeps showing up at open houses.  She is aware of him showing up at open houses throughout Marin City and she said they are suspicious of him as well.  Vehicle plate information was provided. 

5:04 p.m. – A person was contacted while in the midst of tagging under a bridge in the vicinity of Crescent Lane and Main Gate Road.  The person was cited and released for vandalism. 

5:44 p.m. – A black man in a blue sweater was reported to be throwing food inside the McDonald's on Redwood Boulevard.  He was also asking another person for their food.  They were gone on arrival.
