Close Call for Motorcyclist on Wilson Avenue
First reported as a hit-and-run, incident only resulted in rider abrasions.
A motorcyclist avoided major injuries Thursday morning during an accident in Novato’s Indian Valley area that initially was called in as a hit-and-run, police said.
Corbin Roens, 20, had pulled his 1996 Honda CVR from a driveway onto Wilson Avenue just north of Hatch Road at 8:10 a.m. when the bike stalled on him, Lt. Keith Heiden said. Roens pulled to the left side of the road and tried to get the engine running as a black Volvo started to approach on northbound Wilson Avenue.
Roens fired up the cycle and hit the throttle a bit too hard, causing the back tire to lose traction and sending Roens to the ground, Heiden said. The Volvo, driven by a 16-year-old San Marin High student, passed Roens on Wilson at the same time, leading someone to believe it might have been a hit-and-run.
