CHP Looking for Woman Suspected of Hit-and-Run on 101

Accident took place in northbound lanes at 8:25 p.m. Monday in Novato.

Law enforcement is on the lookout for a woman who fled an injury accident on Highway 101 at Ignacio Boulevard on Monday night.

The Marin office of the California Highway Patrol has contacted several witnesses to a collision that took place at about 8:25 p.m. on northbound 101, according to CHP spokesman Officer Chris Rardin.

According to the CHP report, a Novato woman was driving northbound at 65 mph in a 2002 Mazda Protege when it was rear-ended by a 2003 Volkswagen Jetta. The Mazda came to rest of the right shoulder of the road and the Jetta stopped just north of it.

The Jetta’s driver was seen running away to the east, toward Bel Marin Keys, the report said, and the CHP received help from and Marin County Sheriff’s Department in a search for the woman. She was not found, Rardin said.

The Mazda driver, Patricia Greenlief, 32, was taken to for treatment of minor injuries. The CHP said the investigation is ongoing.
