CHP Finds 7 Pounds of Pot in Pulled-Over Car

Two San Francisco men were heading southbound on Highway 101 in Novato when they were stopped.

Two San Francisco men were arrested Thursday night after their car was found to be carrying about seven pounds of marijuana during a traffic stop in Novato, the California Highway Patrol said Friday.

At 11:45 p.m., the driver of a 2010 Honda Insight showed signs of impairment by slaloming in his lane not maintaining a consistent speed on southbound Highway 101 north of Atherton Avenue, the CHP report said.

Andre Mouton, 26, of San Francisco, got off the freeway and stopped at the on Entrada Drive and Enfrente Road in Ignacio, Officer Chris Rardin said. Officers pulled up and smelled marijuana then found about seven pounds of pot and $1,800 in cash when they searched the Honda, Rardin said.

Mouton was also found to have $1,196 in cash and his passenger, Maxwell McKenna, 21, of San Francisco, had a small glass pipe, Rardin said.

Both men were arrested for possession of marijuana for sales and transportation of marijuana, Rardin said. Mouton also was arrested for driving on a suspended license.
