Cat Houses on the Other Side of the Tracks Found Destroyed

The following information from Sept. 12-14 was supplied by the Novato Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

The Headliner: 

Sept. 12, 5:39 p.m. – Someone was advised by the Humane Society to contact the police and request extra patrols in the vicinity of the North Marin Water District offices.  The reporting party said that unknown(s) had destroyed four cat houses. The reporting party feeds stray cats by the railroad tracks.

9:31 a.m. – A witness reported two vehicles driving recklessly in the vicinity of San Marin High School.  A green Ford Explorer and a white Chevy Celebrity were seen racing toward Stafford Lake on Novato Boulevard.  License plate numbers were provided.  The vehicles were located at San Marin High School and the principal was advised of the complaint.  

12:07 p.m. – A student at Novato High School was detained in the school office and cited and released for possession of marijuana.

12:12 p.m. – A fraud was reported in the 100 block of Cabro Court.  Unknown(s) stole checks from a residence and cashed them. 

1:05 p.m. – A 12-year-old boy was booked for shoplifting at the Shell station on South Novato Boulevard. 

1:38 p.m. – Vandalism was reported in the 300 block of Alameda Del Prado.  Unknown(s) cut a tire and scratched a victim’s vehicle. 

3:35 p.m. – A stolen vehicle was reported in the 5500 block of Nave Drive.  A red 1990 Nissan was taken between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. 

8:35 p.m. – Power lines were reported aching in the vicinity of Bel Marin Keys Boulevard and Hamilton Drive.  Flashes could be seen and loud noises were heard. 

9:06 p.m. – A stolen vehicle was reported on Marin Valley Drive.  A white 1998 Toyota pickup was stolen between 5 p.m. yesterday and 5:30 p.m.  

Sept. 13 

1:55 a.m. – Police assisted a medical agency for a 72-year-old man in the 300 block of Indian Way.  He reported a high fever and was unable to walk. The Novato Fire District made entry in to the residence via the second floor.    

7:35 a.m. – Suspicious circumstances were reported in the 300 block of Rush Landing Road when an unknown man was seen going through the back of a truck.  He was booked into Marin County Jail for outstanding warrants. 

9:17 a.m. – A stolen vehicle was reported on Hamilton Drive.  A white 1995 Ford Bronco was taken from a parking lot.  A suspect was identified and a warrant was issued for his arrest. 

10:36 a.m. – An unwanted person was reported in the 1500 block of Center Road.  The reporting party said a man would not leave an apartment.  One was booked into Marin County Jail for false imprisonment. 

12:47 p.m. – A grand theft was reported at the Blockbuster building on Diablo Avenue.  Four copper downspouts were taken from the rear of the building. The estimated value of loss is $1,500. 

1:43 p.m. – Graffiti vandalism was reported in the vicinity of Fourth Street and Grant Avenue.  The front and side of a medical office was found tagged. 

2:50 p.m. – Domestic violence between a man and woman was reported in the vicinity of the Novato Library on Novato Boulevard.  A woman was booked into Marin County Jail for domestic battery against her boyfriend. 

3:46 p.m. – Police assisted a fire agency in the 1800 block of Ignacio Boulevard.  Indian Valley Campus police were on scene directing traffic. A vegetation fire near the campus was not a threat to structures. No further assistance was needed. for a separate story and video on this fire.

3:51 p.m. – A white 1989 Toyota 4-Runner was reported stolen on Modoc Place.  It was last seen at noon yesterday. 

3:53 p.m. – A burglary was reported in the 200 block of Vintage Way.  A woman was arrested and booked into Marin County Jail. 

5:01 p.m. – Vandalism was reported in the 200 block of Antoinette Court.  A victim found that all four of his vehicles tires had been punctured with an ice pick.   The estimated loss is $1500. 

5:44 p.m. – A verbal disturbance was reported in the 2400 block of Novato Boulevard.  The reporting party heard screaming coming from a trail behind the dog park.  A woman was found to be having an argument with herself. 

7:40 p.m. – A hit-and-run misdemeanor was reported in the vicinity of Marion Park on Grant Avenue.  The reporting party said a white and orange moving truck hit their vehicle.  The reporting party spoke with the driver who said he did not hit their vehicle and he then left the scene.  The accident occurred on private property.  The second party left the scene because he did not think he hit the reporting party.  The damage found was not consistent with the accident being reported.  Advice was given and all parties exchanged information. 

10:14 p.m. – A warrant arrest was made in the 300 block of Ignacio Boulevard.  Two were booked into Marin County Jail on outstanding warrants out of Mendocino County. 

Sept. 14 

8:19 a.m. – People reported hearing a woman screaming for help near the dog park on Novato Boulevard.  She was described as a small thin white woman with a small dog.  She seemed to be screaming at herself but as if there was someone with her.  The area was checked but the woman was gone on arrival and could not be located.   

10:39 a.m. – A hit-and-run misdemeanor was reported in the parking lot of Whole Foods on De Long Avenue.  A victim’s red Toyota Camry was damaged.    

11:09 a.m. – A man that had looked as if he had been drinking was observed in a black Honda Accord with his windows rolled up in the vicinity of the Bank of America on Grant Avenue.  The reporting party said he looked sick.  The man was cleared at Novato Community Hospital and was booked into Marin County Jail. 

12:32 p.m. – A 20-year-old woman asked Target employees on Vintage Way for assistance.  She said she had shortness of breath.  When other employees got there the woman was incoherent and unable to answer questions.  The woman was booked for public intoxication. 

3:58 p.m. – A fraud was reported on Ranch Drive.  Unknown(s) used the reporting party’s debit card to make withdrawals from her checking account.  

5:14 p.m. – A fraud was reported at the Rite Aid store on Diablo Avenue.  Unknown(s) used the number of a victim’s credit card to make purchases.  An inquiry was made about the availability of surveillance video.  

5:18 p.m. – A burglary was reported at the Hamilton Marketplace on Nave Drive.  The victim’s blue 2008 Lexus had a window smashed on the driver’s side.  An iPhone 4 was taken from a console. 

7:55 p.m. – Police assisted a fire agency with a suspicious hillside fire behind the tennis courts at San Jose Middle School on Sunset Parkway. A small patch of grass was burned. 

10:39 p.m. – A woman on Novato Boulevard said she needed to go to the crisis center because she is having thoughts of killing herself.  She has not attempted anything and was at the crisis center the previous week. She was evaluated and did not meet the criteria.  When asked why she wanted to kill herself she replied, “so you would take me.”  She also admitted that she was not feeling suicidal but is suffering from anxiety.  Her family transported her for evaluation at Marin General Hospital.
