Cat Burglar Steals ... You Guessed It

The following information from Jan. 29-31 was supplied by the Novato Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

The Headliner:

5:08 p.m., Jan. 30 – A woman on Martin Drive had her cat snatched out of her hands by a neighbor, who took the cat inside her own house and locked the door.  Officers responded, but the neighbor failed to cooperate.  A case was taken for the theft of the cat.

3:01 a.m. – Gang graffiti reported in the 1300 block of Olive Avenue.

8:44 a.m. – A locked car on the 1400 block of Cambridge Street was broken into overnight and an envelope was stolen.

9:24 a.m. – Approximately $2,000 in tools were stolen from an unsecured storage shed in the 300 block of San Andreas Ave.

9:28 a.m. – A trailer parked on Davidson Street near De Long Avenue was tagged with a blue “Kamelz” notation.

2:43 p.m. – Brown/reddish spray paint was used to tag three Golden Gate bus stop benches with gang graffiti including “X3.”

7:01 p.m. – A man was arrested on the 1500 block of Novato Boulevard for allegedly threatening to kill his wife.

Jan. 30

12:13 a.m. – A man seated in the Starbucks area inside the Safeway store on Nave Drive had opened a bottle of champagne and was reported as being passed out.  

10:02 a.m. – A minor injury occurred on the 100 block of Cielo Lane when a vehicle struck a tree.

11:08 a.m. – A gray Chevy S-10 pickup truck on Clay Court had the driver’s side keyed, causing about $500 in damage.  Information of a possible suspect was provided to officers.

11:41 a.m. – The former location of Peet’s Coffee and Tea at Grant Avenue and Seventh Street was vandalized with black spray paint.

11:47 a.m. – Illegible tagging in brown and black pen was reported near the Taco Bell on Seventh Street.

2:58 P.M. – A man was reportedly unable to maintain lanes while driving and then was seen stumbling and moving slowly outside his car at the 7-Eleven at Redwood Boulevard and South Novato Boulevard. He had his driver’s license collected by officers due to a suspension date of Jan. 19.  The driver was issued a DMV 310 form.

3:39 p.m. – A student at Novato High School reported that another student had grabbed him at lunch and threatened to beat him up.

5:25 p.m. – An  employee at the Canyon Manor Rehabilitation Center called the police on behalf of one of the clients who wanted to file a report about being punched in the face by another client, there causing visible injury to her eye.  The staff was provided with an incident number.

Jan. 31

2:07 a.m. – An attempted kidnapping was reported at the America's Best Value in at 7600 Redwood Boulevard, after 3 to 4 males were seen getting out of a U-Haul van there and grabbing another man in the parking lot, put him into the van and drive off Northbound on Redwood Boulevard.  Five suspects were apprehended and booked on various charges. 2:14 p.m. – The 19-year-old son of a woman on Captain Nurse Circle was arrested after allegedly attempting to kick in the front door, and then restricting his mother’s movement by preventing her from leaving an upstairs hallway while he yelled at her. He also broke his mother’s window and a potted plant.

7:02 p.m. – An envelope containing several Social Security cards and credit cards was found under a doormat at a residence on Mariner Way. 

7:17 p.m. – An arrest was made at the America’s Best Value Inn on Redwood Boulevard on an outstanding warrant.

10:05 p.m. – An arrest was made at Bolling Circle for an outstanding warrant.

10:42 p.m. – A man fighting with a woman at the entrance of apartments on the 1700 block of Marion Avenue was arrested. Click here for a full story on this incident.
