Cache of Narcotics Found in Man's Car at Traffic Stop

Deputy pulls over Novato driver near Civic Center, leading to several felony drug charges.

A traffic stop near the Marin Civic Center on Thursday morning resulted in the arrest of a Novato man on suspicion of several felony drug counts, according to the Marin County Sheriff’s Department.

Just after 4 a.m., a deputy saw a vehicle with a mechanical violation at the corner of San Pablo Avenue and North San Pedro Road and pulled over the Novato man, 45-year-old Gerardo Moran, said sheriff’s Sgt. Craig Scardina. The deputy whiffed a strong odor of marijuana and soon discovered that Moran was on probation, Scardina said.

A search of the vehicle yielded a variety of narcotics, including marijuana, morphine and methamphetamines, according to the deputy’s report.
