Beer Theft Caught on Surveillance Video

The following information from Jan. 25-29 was supplied by the Novato Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

The Headliner: 

Jan. 28, 6:49 p.m. – A burglary was reported at the CVS store on Grant Avenue.  Two unknown(s) entered the store and stole two cases of Pacifico beer and one case of Heineken.  The theft was captured on surveillance video.  One suspect is a white man about 20 years old wearing a gray sweatshirt, blue jeans and black tennis shoes.  The other is a Hispanic man about 20 years old wearing a plaid over-shirt and a black jersey and light blue jeans.  The two left through emergency doors without paying for the goods.  The loss is $44.77.

9:16 a.m. – A car was vandalized at Marin Oaks High School on Diablo Avenue.  A blue Audi was keyed last night in the parking lot.    

11:05 a.m. – A burglary was reported in the 200 block of Albion Court.  Unknown(s) cut off a padlock to a storage shed in a carport area and stole an inflatable bed.

3:52 p.m. – Graffiti vandalism was reported in the vicinity of Court Road and Elm Drive.  Tagging was found on a fence. 

4:51 p.m. – A fraud was reported in the 600 block of McClay Road.  Unknown(s) used a victim’s access card to make unauthorized purchases over the internet. 

9:23 p.m. – Three 911 calls were received from a residence on Muroc Lake Drive.  On the third call a woman said that there was a drunken person in her house.  A return call by operator(s) went to voicemail.  A suspect was booked at the Marin County Sheriff’s Office on suspicion of aggravated assault and an emergency protection order was served. 

10:39 p.m. – A reporting party on Bryan Drive requested assistance with getting a drunk client to a detox center. 

Jan. 26 

6:38 a.m. – A stolen vehicle was reported on Nova Lane.  A white Ford F-110 work truck was stolen overnight. 

3:26 p.m. – A parolee in the 1100 block of Simmons Lane was searched per the terms of his parole and was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance. 

3:33 p.m. – A fraud was reported in the 100 block of Stasia Court.  A reporting party said she was working with an online finance company and had sent them $6,000 and now she can’t get a hold of them.  The company was supposedly located in San Diego. 

5:44 p.m. – Vandalism was reported in the 1500 block of Buchanan Street.  A silver Volvo was keyed on the passenger side.  

8:02 p.m. – A woman in the 700 block of Cherry Street said she was hit and pushed by her boyfriend last night.  He was arrested and booked into Marin County Jail on suspicion of domestic battery. 

11:03 p.m. – A woman was reported to have just exited a bus in the vicinity of Olive Avenue and Redwood Boulevard.  The reporting party believes that she is extremely inebriated.  She is currently at the bus stop.  The woman was arrested and booked into Marin County Jail on suspicion of public drunkenness. 

Jan. 27 

7:05 a.m. – Four gunshots were reportedly heard in the 2500 block of Topaz Drive.  The area was checked and officer(s) were unable to locate any problems.  The reporting party said the shots came from the marsh area.  The Marin County Sheriff’s Office had a similar call in the area and was also unable to locate any problems.  There are possibly duck hunters in the area. 

7:52 a.m. – Three gunshots were reported heard within the last minute in the 2600 block of Topaz Drive.  The reporting party was contacted who was at an open space area north of Topaz and said that there were two duck hunters north of the wildlife preserve area. 

11:22 a.m. – A burglary was reported in the 500 block of Loleta Lane.  The reporting party said that mail and a box of checks were stolen from her mailbox. 

12:31 p.m. – An identity theft was reported on Wilson Hill Court.  The reporting party noticed fraudulent charges on her online credit card statement. 

5:02 p.m. – A petty theft was reported at the Square Shopping Center on Novato Boulevard.  The reporting party said unknown(s) stole his iPhone after school.  The loss is $495. 

5:13 p.m. – A homeless couple were reportedly sleeping in a laundry room on Ignacio Lane.  It is a problem that reoccurs in the evening and early morning hours.  Extra patrols were requested.  

5:23 p.m. – A burglary was reported on Cherry Court.  A pistol and two rifles and miscellaneous gun parts were stolen.  The resident believes a relative is a suspect with whom he has had ongoing problems.  There were no signs of a forced entry and only gun-related items were targeted. 

8:20 p.m. – A reporting party at the teen center on Seventh Street said he had a boy in his office who admitted to selling marijuana to another kid.  The teen center is having a dance and some marijuana was found in the trash near the boys bathroom.  At least one was cited and released to a parent for suspected possession of marijuana. 

9:02 p.m. – A reporting party said he was involved in a head-on vehicle accident in the vicinity of Palmer Drive and Redwood Boulevard and that he cannot get out of his car.  The reporting party is driving a silver Honda, and the other vehicle is white.  One was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence and booked into Marin County Jail. 

11:46 p.m. – Vandalism was reported in the 300 block of Ignacio Boulevard.  Damage was caused to a front door side window.  Damage is estimated at $250. 

Jan. 28 

3:01 a.m. – An altercation between a man and a woman was reported in the vicinity of Redwood Boulevard and Vallejo Avenue.  One was arrested and booked into the Marin County Jail on suspicion of public drunkenness. 

7:08 a.m. – A reporting party in the 600 block of Santana Road said at least six gun shots had been heard since midnight.  The reporting party was advised of possible duck hunters in the area. 

8:40 a.m. – A burglary was reported on Monroe Court.  A woman said that her Toyota Camry was broken into overnight.  Unknown(s) entered the victim’s locked vehicle and stole several necklaces and a jacket.  The loss is estimated at $240. 

3:16 p.m. – A white man was seen passed out in the driver’s seat of his running vehicle with a vodka bottle next to him in a parking lot in the 900 block of Ignacio Boulevard.  He was arrested and booked into Marin County Jail on  suspicion of public drunkenness and a probation violation. 

3:49 p.m. – Vandalism was reported in the 1000 block of First Street.  A woman said that while she was in rehab someone had broken into her apartment and had a party.  Unknown(s) damaged the reporting party’s door and trespassed into her premises.  No property was reported missing. 

7:35 p.m. – A reporting party said that a black man wearing a dark gray fleece hoodie was hitting a car with a 2-by-4 in front of a residence in the 1100 block of Third Street. The man took off down Third Street toward Grant Avenue.  The loss is $70 to the driver’s side window.  The area was checked but the man could not be located. 

10:12 p.m. – A white Honda Accord was hit by a gold SUV in the 1000 block of Ignacio Boulevard.  One suspect was booked into Marin County Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and corporal injury to a cohabitant. 

11:51 p.m. – An unwanted person was reported at the McDonald’s restaurant on Redwood Boulevard.  A white man was sleeping outside in front of the door.  He was asked to leave but would not respond.  The man was homeless and had been dropped off by a cab to catch a southbound bus to San Francisco.  He was moved along to the bus pad to wait for the next bus. 

Jan. 29 

12:56 a.m. – An unwanted person was reported at America’s Best Value Inn on Redwood Boulevard.  A man was refusing to leave a room when asked.  Officer(s) provided a civil standby while the man removed his property from his girlfriend’s room and left the premises. 

2:18 a.m. – A party complaint was received from Novato Day’s Inn on Redwood Boulevard.  The reporting party asked occupants of a room to quiet down and they have not.  The reporting party is requesting that everyone leave for the night.  All persons were gone on arrival. 

6:16 p.m. – Gunshots were reported heard on Plumas Circle.  The reporting party said that four shots and shouting could be heard coming from a nearby condo complex.  Several residents were contacted who said they did not hear or see anything. 

11:15 p.m. – A reporting party said that loss prevention personnel were in an altercation with someone stealing from the Lucky’s store on Grant Avenue.  A woman was booked into Marin County Jail on suspicion of burglary, petty theft and possession of a controlled substance.
