Arson Suspected in Flurry of Small Fires

and investigators said they suspect arson as they collect evidence on a rash of small fires Saturday night and Sunday morning in a southern Novato neighborhood.

Police said 15 to 20 small fires were extinguished in a six-hour period between 9:10 p.m. Saturday and 3:11 a.m. Sunday in the Seascape Village area off South Redwood Boulevard. Most were brush fires of 800 square feet or less, and one was confined to a large trash bin. One power pole and part of a fence were damaged as well.

Locations targeted included South Novato Boulevard at South Redwood Boulevard, Sunnybrae Lane at Seascape Drive, South Redwood at Briarwood Court and the top of the Cheda Knolls hill.

Police said no one was hurt and no structural damages were incurred.
