Arrest Made in Alleged Robbery of 12-year-old

Novato police say they have reason to believe that the incident is gang-related.

An arrest was made Monday in connection with the March 1 robbery of a 12-year-old boy who was allegedly beaten unconscious by three males, according to Lt. Keith Heiden of the Novato Police Department.

The incident occurred at 6:30 p.m. in the area of 3rd Street and Vallejo Avenue in Novato. Three males allegedly jumped the boy and beat him unconscious, according to Heiden.

When the boy regained consciousness he discovered items had been taken, said Heiden. The incident was reported the following day where his statement was taken at Kaiser Hospital. According to Heiden, the boy is out of the hospital and is fine.

“We have reason to believe it is gang-related,” said Heiden who added that a 17-year-old male was also arrested.

Luis Antonio Toledo, an 18-year-old Novato resident, was arrested on March 5 on suspicion of robbery, battery and two gang-related charges. He is being held at the Marin County Jail on $75,000 bail for the robbery and $25,000 for each of the two gang-related charges.
