No One Injured in Cell Phone Store Shooting

Police are searching for a man who demanded money and attempted to shoot employees at Variedades Cellular on Saturday evening.

San Rafael police are searching for an armed robber who demanded money and attempted to shoot employees at a cell phone and check cashing store in the Canal neighborhood on Saturday, according to police spokeswoman Margo Rohrbacher.

Around 7 p.m., an armed man entered Variedades Cellular on 26 Medway, displayed his handgun and demanded money. The three employees in the store retreated to a back room protected by bullet-proof glass, according to Rohrbacher.

"The suspect attempted to follow them and fired his gun in their direction, narrowly missing one of them," she said.

No one was injured and the suspect fled the business after he fired the shot.

He is described as an African American male in his late 20s or early 30s, 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 10 inches with a heavy build. He was wearing a black hoodie with the hood pulled down over his face.

I see someone missed the DA's gun buy back program. Glad no one got hurt. Seriously, who holds a handguns sideways? Hollywood actors and gang members. Who says Hollywood doesn't influence the public.
