A Sacramento man faces three felony charges, including attempted kidnapping, after an argument with a woman at a Novato motel turned into a short chase up and down Redwood Boulevard, police said Monday.
The unmarried couple pulled into on Sunday afternoon and proceeded to disagree about whether to check in or not, Sgt. Oliver Collins said. After getting out of the car, the man attempted to get the woman to get back into the car, but she refused and started to run away, Collins said.
The man got into the car and pursued the woman, who fled on foot around the parking lot and then south on Redwood Boulevard. Several passersby saw the chase and reported it to police at 1:11 p.m., and the woman made her own emergency call, Collins said.
The woman got about a quarter mile away, between the Shamrock concrete plant and , and then headed back north to the motel, Collins said. Police officers went there and made contact with the woman, and the man in the car showed up a while later.
Aaron Lee Troy Shaw, 26, was arrested at 2:53 p.m. and found to be a state parolee, according to the Marin County Jail booking log. In addition to the felony parole hold, he faces felony counts of attempted kidnapping and inflicting injury on a spouse.
Collins said the woman had visible injuries but was not hospitalized.
