Another Metal Plaque Targeted by Thieves

The following information from Aug. 31–Sept. 4 was supplied by the Novato Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

The Headliner: 

Aug 31, 2:24 p.m. – A brass sign was taken from the Stonetree Golf Club on Stonetree Lane.  Loss is approximately $2,500.

10:01 a.m. – Graffiti vandalism was reported at the North Bay Christian Academy on Redwood Boulevard.  Gang-related taggings were found on the property. 

11:54 a.m. – A fraud was reported on Monroe Court after a victim discovered that someone had used her checking account to make a purchase through Comcast.

12:43 p.m. – An unwanted person was reported at a business on Galli Drive.  A former employee who had just been fired was refusing to leave the office.  The 60-year-old woman left voluntarily, but the reporting party was concerned about business records that may have been copied prior to her departure. 

1:01 p.m. – A burglary was reported at the America’s Best Value Inn on Redwood Boulevard.  A man was booked into Marin County Jail. 

4:08 p.m. – Advice was requested to church staff on Wilson Avenue.  A neighbor in the area is extremely angry over the school expansion.  He has raged at the pastor and flips him off.  The neighbor has mentioned in the past “it’s a good thing I don’t have a gun.”  The reporting party wanted his concerns on file with the police. 

5:06 p.m. – A woman reported a road rage incident and being followed by a man in a silver SUV. She said he brandished a firearm at her after he went around her at a red light.  Officers' search of the area did not yield a vehicle matching the description. 

7:05 p.m. – An assault and battery was reported in the 300 block of Enfrente Road.  A resident said a man that was trying to break her window with a board was refusing to leave.  She hit him with the soft end of the broom in the face.  There was no merit to domestic violence.  The reporting party was advised on how to obtain a restraining order. 

8:14 p.m. – Suspicious circumstances were reported in the vicinity of Atherton Avenue and Bugeia Lane.  Two men were seen burning unknown items in a red crate.  The men were located near the cemetery cooking food for what they said was religious purposes. They said they had a family member laid to rest inside the cemetery.  The fire was very controlled but was put out by the Novato Fire District. The men were admonished about any future burnings. 

9:39 p.m. – A driver stopped for vehicle code violations was cited and released for driving on a suspended license.  The driver’s vehicle was also impounded. 

Sep 1 

12:18 a.m. – A security guard at the Wyndover Apartments on Diablo Avenue was reported to be trying to break up an altercation.  Two people were contacted that were in a verbal argument over moving from an apartment. 

12:48 a.m. – A vehicle was reported on fire in the 1300 block of South Novato Boulevard.  A man was involved in a solo accident.  He was arrested for driving under the influence and booked into Marin County Jail. 

1:29 p.m. – Two men spotted in the 1000 block of Simmons Lane were reportedly drinking beer in a black RAV4 and throwing the bottles in the bushes.  The two were contacted.  Neither had been drinking, however they were advised of the complaint and they then disposed of the bottles properly.  The two were moved along. 

6:46 p.m. – A warrant arrest was made in the vicinity of Pico Vista and Raposa Vista.  A person was booked into Marin County Jail for an outstanding warrant and driving on a suspended license.  The vehicle was also impounded. 

7 p.m. – Two boys and a girl were reported drinking alcohol from a bottle in the 400 block of Enfrente Road.  All three were cited for being minors in possession of alcohol and one was cited for a probation violation. 

8:37 p.m. – Vandalism was reported in the 1700 block of Marion Avenue after a victim’s vehicle window was shattered with a rock.  There was no loss from inside the vehicle.

10:26 – A person was arrested and booked into Marin County Jail for driving under the influence and resisting arrest on Muroc Lake Drive.  

Sep 2 

8:58 a.m. – A person was booked into Marin County Jail for being drunk in public in the 900 block of Diablo Avenue. 

9:26 a.m. – Vandalism was reported in the 900 block of Seventh Avenue after unknown(s) smashed the left side mirror of a victim’s vehicle.  The incident occurred overnight and damages are estimated at $400. 

10:49 a.m. – A complaint about an abandoned vehicle led to the recovery of a stolen vehicle in the 1200 block of Parkwood Drive. 

12:07 p.m. – A woman at Novato Community Hospital had told staff she had suicidal thoughts after ingesting an overdose of ibuprofen.  She was transported to Marin General for further psychiatric evaluation. 

3:09 p.m. – A complaint was made about a crossing guard in the vicinity of Center Road and Wilson Avenue.  The reporting party said that traffic is too backed up and that someone needs to speak to the crossing guard.  No violations were observed.  Officers determined the crossing guard is doing what he was hired to do. 

5:50 p.m. – A reporting party on Leveroni Court said that a customer called her business call center and threatened to come to their business and shoot them all in the head if they continued to call him.  The customers phone number was provided.    

8:11 p.m. – A person was cited and released for possession of a controlled substance at the Novato Days Inn on Redwood Boulevard. 

11:30 p.m. – A car reportedly hit a bridge in the vicinity of Campbell Court and McClay Road.  A person was booked into Marin County Jail for driving under the influence. 

Sept. 3 

1:29 a.m. – Unwanted people were reported at the Novato Day’s Inn on Redwood Boulevard.  Two people would not quiet down and cooperate with management.  The two were contacted and left without incident at the request of management. 

1:59 a.m. – A man in the vicinity of Diablo Avenue and Novato Boulevard was arrested and booked into Marin County Jail for two outstanding warrants. 

3:03 p.m. – A man was arrested and booked on a warrant in the vicinity of Fawn Court and Novato Boulevard. 

3:27 p.m. – A report of shoplifting was made at Whole Foods Market on De Long Avenue.  The loss was recovered and the shoplifter was cited and released. 

7:15 p.m. – A man in the 1300 block of Leafwood Drive said he wants to go to a crisis center.  He is diabetic and his not going to take his shot or his pills.  He was evaluated and transported to Marin General Hospital for further evaluation. 

7:20 p.m. – A man in a white GMC SUV parked in the Nave Center Shopping Center on South Novato Boulevard was booked for driving under the influence.  

7:51 p.m. – An unlicensed driver in the vicinity of South Novato and Sunset Parkway had a vehicle towed away to storage. 

10:34 p.m. – Extra patrols were requested at the Inn Marin on Entrada Drive after a group of men wearing hoodies were seen lingering around the property.  When management approached them they took off in a green four-door vehicle.  Management was concerned because TVs had been stolen there the previous week. 

10:45 p.m. – A woman southbound on Highway 101 at Alameda Del Prado was arrested and booked into Marin County Jail for driving with a suspended license and for possession of a controlled substance. 

Sept. 4 

2:13 a.m. – A reporting party in the 300 block of San Luis Way said two women came into the house and hit him.  One person interfered with an officer during investigation and was arrested for resisting arrest.  

9:58 a.m. – A fraud was reported in the 400 block of Wood Hollow Drive.  Unknown(s) set up a Paypal account in the reporting party’s name to obtain a line of credit.  Purchases were made against the account. 

1:07 p.m. – An unresponsive female was reported laying on a bench in the vicinity of Grant Avenue and Redwood Boulevard.  The woman had been drinking and she did not know where she had fallen.  Officer(s) assisted the fire agency and medics transported her to Novato Community Hospital. 

1:34 p.m. – A grand theft was reported in the 700 block of Bradley Avenue.  Unknown(s) entered the victims locked gray Toyota Tundra and took and envelope of checks and cash.  A neighbor’s vehicle had also been gone through. 

1:49 p.m. – An ex-boyfriend of the reporting party just hit the reporting party’s car with a baseball bat. He left in a silver Nissan Versa heading away from the freeway on South Novato Boulevard.  An arrest warrant was issued for vandalism and injury to a co-habitant. 

3:54 p.m. – Two males were reported fighting in the vicinity of San Marin High School.  A victim sustained three bite marks as a result of the incident.  A complaint was requested. 

4:20 p.m. – A loud explosion was reported by a resident in the 1800 block of Virginia Avenue.  The reporting party said his wife heard the explosion about 3:30 p.m.  He said this was the sixth explosion in the area in three years. 

6:40 p.m. – A burglary was reported at the CVS store on Grant Avenue after a boy was seen stealing a bottle of alcohol.  He was apprehended and booked into juvenile hall.

9:13 p.m. – A driver was cited and released in the vicinity of Crescent Drive and Oakwood Drive for driving with a suspended license and no proof of financial responsibility.  The driver’s vehicle was also impounded. 

10:07 p.m. – A woman at Novato Community Hospital said that she took pills and that she doesn’t deserve to live.  She was transferred to Marin General Hospital for further evaluation. 

10:10 p.m. – A driver in the 900 block of Diablo Avenue was cited and released for driving on a suspended license.  The driver’s vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
