Accident Near Novato Landfill Sends 2 to the Hospital

Large truck carrying pallets of wine collides with pick-up truck Wednesday afternoon

A collision between a pick up truck and a box truck carrying bottles of wine sent two to the hospital Wednesday afternoon and backed up traffic in both directions of Highway 101.

The accident occurred around 2:20pm on southbound 101 when a large truck collided with another vehicle that had pulled over on the side of the highway, near the Novato landfill.

According to Andrew Barclay, a spokesman for the California Highway Patrol, the driver of the pick-up had pulled over and a passenger got out of the vehicle in order to restrain something in the back.

A box truck carrying pallets of wine did not notice the truck and smashed into the pick-up truck. One person suffered serious injuries, while another sustained moderate injuries.
