A Swing and a Miss to Novato Man on Bike

The following information from July 14–16 was supplied by the Novato Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

The Headliner: 

July 15, 1:52 p.m. – An assault with a deadly weapon was reported in the vicinity of Center Road and Tamalpais Avenue.  A man said he was riding his bike in the area when he passed another man who took a baseball bat out of his truck and took a swing at his head but missed.  The reporting party rode back to his apartment at the Wyndover Apartments to call police.  There was no injury.  The two have a history of past problems. 

July 14

9:10 a.m. – A welfare check on a man reported to be lying on the ground in a blanket next to a bottle of rum on Pinheiro Circle resulted in the man being booked into Marin County Jail for an outstanding warrant. 

12:35 p.m. – A complaint about yelling at the Wyndover Apartments on Diablo Avenue turned out to be an argument between a man and a woman.  Officer(s) abated the argument and provided advice.

12:40 p.m. – A stolen vehicle was recovered after a suspicious vehicle was reported to have been seen in a parking lot for over two weeks in the 5500 block of Nave Drive.  The brand new silver Honda with paper plates was towed away and a message was left for the reporting officer. 

2:58 p.m. – A grand theft was reported on Muroc Lake Drive.  A handgun was stolen from the trunk of a vehicle.  The gun was stolen sometime between June 28 and 29. It was a Springfield SC/45 that included a clip. 

4:34 p.m. – Advice was provided to a citizen who said an ongoing dispute with a neighbor resulted in the neighbor pushing his wife in the 2700 block of Topaz Drive.  He had video surveillance of the incident.  Officer(s) provided guidance regarding how to obtain a temporary restraining order. 

7:48 p.m. – A grand theft was reported on Yukon Place.  Unknown(s) broke into a locked vehicle.  Total loss is about $8,000. 

8:30 p.m. – A burglary was reported in the vicinity of Oliva Court and Oliva Drive.  Two locks were cut to gain access to a cargo trailer in a storage area.  Total loss is undetermined at this time. 

11:10 p.m. – A complaint about an argument between a man and a woman in the 1500 block of Center Road resulted in a man being taken to Marin County Jail for detox. 

July 15 

3:55 a.m. – Someone reported that three Hispanic teenagers broke the window of a silver Toyota Camry on Tinker Way.  Two were wearing Raiders sweatshirts and the third a green rain suit.  The three were heading towards Hamilton Meadow Park School on the creek side.  Three vehicles were found broken into.  No additional suspect information at this time. 

11:03 a.m. – A burglary was reported in the 600 block of Bolling Circle.  Unknown(s) broke into a locked vehicle over night by smashing out the front passenger side window.  An iPod was taken.  The total loss and damage is about $500. 

11:24 a.m. – A clinic employee reported that a client on Second Street came in for bruising on her body.  She said her husband had been hitting, choking and sexually abusing her for over the last three  months.  The husband was also present at the clinic.  The man was booked into Marin County Jail for domestic battery and corporal injury on a spouse. 

1:48 p.m. – A burglary was reported in the 600 block of Bolling Circle.  Unknown(s) broke into a victim’s locked vehicle over night and removed an in-dash stereo, some change and miscellaneous items that were in the trunk.  Total loss is not determined. 

2:38 p.m. – Suspicious circumstances were reported in the vicinity of Greenwood Drive.  A resident noticed a white man in his 40s or 50s driving a blue minivan and parking in the area looking at children.  When the reporting party approached him and asked him if he needed help, he swore back at him and was angry.  License plate info was provided.  Both parties were contacted and advice was given. 

4:10 p.m. – A stolen vehicle was reported on Roca Court.  A potential suspect was an 18-year-old man.  Petaluma PD located the missing Jeep and they are arranging removal.  The man was booked into Marin County Jail for grand theft. 

4:42 p.m. – A hit-and-run misdemeanor was reported in the vicinity of Redwood Boulevard and Rowland Way.  The driver was rear-ended by a gray four-door sedan heading southbound onto Highway 101.  The driver, a white woman with dark hair, left the scene without stopping.  Partial plate information was provided. 

6:28 p.m. – A burglary was reported on Jefferson Court.  Unknown(s) broke into the victim’s residence the previous day.  Some jewelry was missing. 

8:04 p.m. – A fraud was reported in the 1200 block of Lynwood Drive.  A resident reported that he had sent $2,800 to unknown(s) via Western Union.  Unknown(s) had said his grandson was in jail and that he needed to be bailed out.  No loss.  Transaction was cancelled by Western Union prior to completion.  No suspect information available. 

July 16 

12:37 a.m. – A driver reported a possible driver under the influence in the vicinity of South Novato Boulevard and Rowland Boulevard.  The reporting party said that a black sedan had been swerving on Highway 101 since Terra Linda.  The vehicle hit the center divide and was unable to maintain lanes.  A man was arrested and booked into Marin County Jail for driving with a blood alcohol level above .08 percent. 

11:24 a.m. – A woman on Maple Court said her boyfriend is breaking up her house.  The caller disconnected.  A report for vandalism was filed. 

12:53 p.m. – A hit-and-run misdemeanor was reported in the 600 block of Santana Road.  The incident possibly occurred overnight.  There is no suspect information. 

1:26 p.m. – A welfare check was requested for a bleeding man who was seen stumbling and falling down in the 1000 block of Second Street.   He was booked into Marin County Jail. 

10:40 p.m. – A man was arrested for driving under the influence in the 300 block of Ignacio Boulevard. 

11:31 p.m. – A man in the 1700 block of Novato Boulevard reported that his stepdaughter had kicked and punched him.  She had also threatened him and spit on him and then left the premises on foot.  The man did not wish to file a report but said he would call the PD if she returned.
