Reports of ATM Frauds Continue

The following information from Dec. 8–11 was supplied by the Novato Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

The Headliner: 

Dec. 8 & 9 – (See hightlighted items below.) 

Dec. 8

12:54 a.m. – A resident in the 1500 block of Park Court reported hearing men arguing and throwing things.  One was booked for injury to a co-habitant.  An emergency protection order was granted. 

2:53 a.m. – A burglary was reported at the Men’s Warehouse on Vintage Way.  A man was seen inside the store running toward the rear of the building.  The reporting party said a cash register was also seen on the ground.  The man was last seen wearing a gray jacket with a hoodie over his head.  The man did not gain access into the cash registers. 6:40 a.m. – A petty theft was reported on Edwards Court.  A Mercury Villager was broken into overnight and an iPad, some clothing and $40 cash was taken. 

12:09 p.m. – Vandalism was reported on Spinosa Way.  A woman’s ex-husband had just texted her that he had flattened her tires. She checked her vehicle and found that the tires had been flattened by someone who removed the valve stems. The total damage is about $100. 

2:39 p.m. – A vehicle was burglarized overnight in the 5700 block of Nave Drive.  Two electric guitars in bags were taken. 

3:11 p.m. – A fraud was reported in the 100 block of Montura Way.  A victim’s debit card was accessed without authorization in central California. 

5:05 p.m. – An attempted burglary was reported on Andreas Circle.  The door jam of a garage side door was broken.  It appears that it had been pried.  It appears access to the house was not successful. 

8:43 p.m. – A fraud was reported in the 100 block of San Carlos Way.  A victim said there was unauthorized use of an ATM card. 

Dec. 9 

7:52 a.m. – A burglary was reported in the 100 block of San Luis Way.  A window screen was ripped off the house and a package was stolen from the front porch.  An unknown woman returned the opened box yesterday with some of the items missing.  Damage is estimated at $25. 

9:06 a.m. – A fraud was reported in the 100 block of Montura Way.  The reporting party was a victim of the Lucky store debit card skimmers.  Two withdrawals were made at a Bank of America ATM in San Luis Obispo. 

12:38 p.m. – A fraud was reported at Lucky store on Grant Avenue.  A victim’s credit card was used for unauthorized transactions in San Francisco and Los Angeles.  The total loss was $807.50. 

4:05 p.m. – A fraud was reported on Hampshire Way.  The victim said $198 was used on a credit card in Los Angeles County. 

6:39 p.m. – Extra patrols were requested in the 1400 block of West Court after a group of juveniles were seen drinking in the bushes at the end of the street.  The reporting party poured out a bottle of vodka that they had left behind.  

7:55 p.m. – Shoplifting was reported at a store on Vintage Way.  Four women took items from the store and left without paying.  One woman said she would return later.  The theft was captured on surveillance video. 

10:46 p.m. – Seven Hispanic men were reported hanging out near the parking lot of the Wyndover Apartments on Diablo Avenue.  The reporting party said that he did not recognize them and that he believes they do not live there.  The group was contacted.  Two were cited for being under age and in possession of cigarettes. 

Dec. 10 

12:42 a.m. – Unwanted persons were reported at America’s Best Value Inn on Redwood Boulevard.  The reporting party said that 10 to 15 people were in a room having a party.  The occupants were moved out. 

2:33 p.m. – Vandalism was reported at Sinaloa Middle School on Vineyard Road.  A passerby noticed a shattered window.  Unknown(s) had smashed a window with a rock.  Total damage is $100. 

4:47 p.m. – Shoplifting was reported at the CVS store on Grant Avenue.  A Hispanic boy about 16 years old wearing a gray sweatshirt and dark blue beanie took a bottle of Captain Morgan Spice Rum.  He was last seen to the rear of the store near the bakery.  He was with three others.  Surveillance photos were taken as evidence. 

10:31 p.m. – Suspicious circumstances were reported on the track field at San Marin High School.  A woman said that a group of kids came running up to her while she was on the track and then they started growling at her from behind.  One wore a white hoodie and the other two wore dark clothing.  Officer(s) contacted the kids and their parents were advised. 

11:14 p.m. – A man was arrested for driving under the influence in the 700 block of Redwood Boulevard.  He was also cited for possession of a fake Social Security card. 

Dec. 11 

12:16 p.m. – Shoplifting was reported in the 1500 block of South Novato Boulevard.   An unknown man took flashlights and automotive items.  The reporting party has surveillance footage of the theft.  The loss is about $126. 

4:03 p.m. – A man was arrested at the Marriott on Hamilton Parkway for violating a temporary restraining order.  He was booked into the Marin County Jail. 

8:13 p.m. – Extra patrols were requested in the vicinity of Ormond Court.  The reporting party believes someone tried to steal items out of her vehicle within the last few hours. 

11:07 p.m. – Extra patrols were requested in the vicinity of the 800 block of Lamont Avenue.  The reporting party said that he chased a group of young adults off his property and that he felt uncomfortable when he asked them to leave.  He said they surrounded him and told him to show respect.
