3 Arrested After Burglary and Vandalism in Hamilton

Novato Charter School and cars in neighboring streets ransacked; resident chases away suspects and ID's them for police.

Three young men were arrested on suspicion of burglary and vandalism Thursday morning after an alarm went off at the in Hamilton, said.

The alarm went off at 1:28 a.m. at the school, just off Main Gate Road and C Street, and officers found signed of forced entry in several portable classroom windows, according to Sgt. Eric Riddell.

A few minutes later, residents nearby on Moffett Court, Kelly Drive and Gardner Court reported three subjects entering vehicles, and one resident chased them away.

Officers spotted and detained the subjects at Bolling Circle and Randolph Drive. The resident who had chased the suspects from his driveway arrived by car and identified the three young men.

During a search, officers found a small paint container that had been taken from the school in one of the subject’s pocket. The three admitted they had committed burglary at the school and entered a number of unlocked vehicles. The search continued and yielded a number of items believed to be from the cars.

Brian Bickerton, 21, of Novato and Paul Conners, 18, of Corte Madera were arrested and taken to Marin County Jail. A 17-year-old boy from Novato was taken to Marin County Juvenile Hall.

Bickerton faces a felony charge of conspiracy to commit a crime; Conners faces charges of burglary and receiving known stolen property. Both face additional misdemeanors for petty theft.
