2 Arrested After Alleged Robbery, Stabbing in Ignacio

Novato police detain man and woman separately following Saturday night assault.

Two Novato residents face counts of armed robbery and one of them is a suspect in a stabbing after an incident Saturday night in Ignacio, Novato police said Monday.

Stephen Hart, 20, and Reanna Schuman, 19, were arrested separately Monday and booked into Marin County Jail as suspects in the assault on a 33-year-old man at 9 p.m. Saturday night, Novato Det. Sgt. Mike Howard said.

Police answered a call at 11 p.m. Saturday when a stabbing victim arrived at a local hospital under his own power. The man said he had been stabbed during a robbery while he walked on the sidewalk near the intersection of Alameda del Prado and Ignacio Boulevard.

Investigators concluded that a male suspect, accompanied by a woman, stabbed the man after the male suspect had brandished a weapon and demanded money. They fled with some money, and the stabbing victim drove himself to the hospital, Howard said.

The injured man was treated and is expected to survive, Howard added.

On Monday investigators obtained evidence that led them to Schuman and Hart. Schuman was arrested at 1:20 p.m. at an apartment in the 400 block of Ignacio Boulevard, and Hart was taken into custody at 1:47 p.m. Monday on Verdad Way in the San Marin neighborhood of Novato.
